Blue Sky M1 Carbine

My (future) brother-in-law has one of these he might want to sell me.

How do we figure out what the heck its worth?

not much. they were mostly importers .if the quality of the M-1 carbine is as good as their garand's i'd pass. check gunsamerica to see what current market is on the blue sky stuff.
how does it shoot ?

Make, markings, dates, stamps.....

No. Hoping he can find some additional markings.

Also not having much luck tracking down possible worth.

I've seen everything from $300-$650.

It says "IBM Corp" under the rear sight.

Serial 39xxxxx

Looks like MMQ or MMO on the barrel-band.

Capitol M with a line under it on the magazine-release.

RIA on the front-sight "wings".

Also says I.B.M. Corp on the barrel.

EM-Q on the bayonet lug.

Looks like the number 10 on the stock, where the sling would meet the oiler.

Anyone have an estimate on what this might be worth?

i'd lean towards the $300 range. again blue sky imported these. overseas assembled (in korea ?) rifles as were the garands. the garand i picked up was a BSI. was using it for one of my .308 conversions. the .06 bbl literally was hand tightened into the receiver. the parts were all usgi. the completed unit was junk. their M-1 carbine's had issues with bent recoil rods. if it shoots good and you're comfortable with the price he's asking then buy it.

The metal parts appear to be in excellent condition. The stock is beat to heck.

This carbine was given to him years ago. He's not particularly interested in it. I think he'll take whatever I give him for it. I just don't want to over-pay or take-advantage of the situation.

I'm going to shoot it a little before I commit.

they were assembled,not made overseas,using usgi parts like buying an inported ak or fn parts kit and assembling here.
