So this last weekend was my B-day so me and the boy headed up to Glenwood Springs. We went to the hot springs, ate dinner and stayed at the Ramada Inn. The next day we went to Hanging Lake, it was about 1-1/2 mile hike at 1020' above the base. It is a steep climb but not as bad as the incline in the Springs. We started at 1:30 in the heat of the day, the trail was shaded a lot but still HOT[Fire]...

We got to the top and we were burning up , signs at the bottom say; No Swimming.... What signs? The boy goes 1st in I go second, he goes in twice I go in once.... Save the negative remarks about why I shouldn't have, I already know! Blah blah blah.....

Anyway we had a good time, if you have never been it is well worth it!

Wife is always talking about how much she loves it. She swam in there too and I got crap when I posred about it a few years ago. I've never been yet.

So the second question is - why no swimming?

A park ranger told us not to touch the bottom with our feet because it will destroy that part of the moss growing over that part of the bottom. If you decide to "cool off", he said to do it fully clothed, and out by the log because it doesn't say "no climbing on the downed tree sticking out in the middle of the lake", and who can really ticket you for accidently falling in?

Yea, that's what happened to us! We were standing on the log when we lost our balance.......... ;-) Yea that's it..... Same happened to you huh?

Your body oils destroy the minerals to make/keep it looking so nice.

I am not sure I agree with that 100% but then again I am not an ecologist. I would think that with the millions of gallons of water and the fact that you can get in the water falls above that feed it, that might not be true....

Been quite a few years since I hiked up there. Isn't it about a one mile hike that takes you up about 1000 feet of elevation? Seems I remember it being pretty steep.
