For many of you, today is known as "Flag Day," but for many of us (I'll go ahead and call out the "Ranger twins" although they aren't twins: Ranger and AirborneRanger) it is also a special birthday...
Today is the 237th birthday for the United States Army!

So now I ask, who here has served/is serving in the Army?
For those that don't know I served from 09/06-10/10 with one 12-month tour in Afghanistan (RC East)- I was with 3IBCT 10th MTN DIV (LI). Technically I'm on IRR status but due to injury I'm getting a medical discharge soon.

Afghanistan 2010 (short)
Afghanistan 2011 (really short)
Afghanistan 2012 (current)

Today June 14, 2012 my grandson, Jake Hartman from Naperville, IL, is graduating from U.S. Army basic training at Fort Benning, GA. Next, he will attend Artillery School at Fort Sill, OK. This is the same grandson who always enjoyed shooting my guns and firing my black powder mortar and cannon when he visited us out here in CO. Looks like grampa won't have to be buying the components for him to do his cannon firing now.

Oh yeah, I served in the U.S. Army June 1955 - March 1958. Dang good experience (since it was peace time and I didn't get shot at) and a good place to learn responsibility and discipline.
Thanks to ALL who served in any branch of the U. S. Military!!!!!
