Looks like the sprocket snapped. It's basically the metal piece connected to the motor that spins the chain. Anyone else had this problem? Might have to replace the whole unit it seems.

What unit is it?

You can find parts for them out there. We recently rebuilt a friend's opener a while back when the plastic sprockets inside the unit gave out. Only cost ~$10 for his stuff.

all i see is "lift master the professional line 1/2hp" my uncle said he has to replace his whole unit when his sprocket snapped.

Lift master is top of the line.
Go to their website and you can order the parts or find a dealer close by.

Not too bad to replace. Maybe an hour or so if you're taking your time. We even had a YouTube video to help us out.

Thanks. Local store did price match with Amazon. Gonna try youtubing it.
