They find dead squirrels in my neighborhood that test positive for Bubonic Plague all the time ... its actually rather common (thanks to the advances of medicine over a century ago its also pretty much harmless).

A good friend of mine got bitten by a crazy cat during a storm last year, and it had the Black DEATH. Lol. He got pretty sick, but made it just fine.

It is pretty common in Colorado. It's been found fairly often among prairie rats and other little critters. When I first moved here I'd take my dog out to one of the rat villages to chase them. Great exercise but not so smart. A local informed me how a flea coming home could make me very unhappy. The good side of this is that docs out here know what it is and if you turn up at an ER you'll probably pull through.

It is pretty common in Colorado.
Very common along the Colorado front range.
You don't have to travel very far from Denver to come in contact with the common "Black Death"
I'd bet it is even within Denver's city limits....Remember when the Pope came to Denevr in the late '80's?
They tried to remove all the prairie dogs in the city with giant vacuums to prevent the possibility of the Pope getting the Plague!
