Funny how my collection of guns has evolved over time. I started off collecting all the latest "cool" guns like the SCAR's and FS2000's. Now, I view my selection as more practical for survival. I have an unstoppable AK-47, a more accurate AR-15 with an EoTech, a small game 10/22 Takedown with 4x scope, a semi-auto 12 GA. shotgun with red-dot, and a subcompact Glock 30. All have 500 to 1K+ rounds ready to grab and go in ammo cans. I guess the last piece to the puzzle could be a long range hunting rifle with scope, hmmm...

I noticed something similar in my collection. I ended up going back to iron sights on all my guns. Lost all the accessories. Went real plain jane.

From BMW... to mini-van. Sometimes best is not always coolest.

Do you hear that Ronin? Get a mini-van! [Beer]

I have a similar set-up. What were you thinking of getting?

I have been tossing the idea of a Larue PredatOBR 20" or PredatAR 18" with a scope. I've heard some good things about them being used for accurate longer distance shooting. Not necessarily what you were probably thinking though, I just like the AR platform and don't want to change caliber.

I still like the faster targeting of the electronic sights, but all still have BUIS or stock iron sights just in case.

Sadly, just accessorized it then sold it before I even had a chance to shoot it.

Maybe something bolt action, in .308, but that would mean stocking up on different ammo as you mentioned...

Sure, I'll get right on that, just as soon as I get castrated [Coffee]

I think practical is the way to go with most cases- That's why I added the 1911 to my collection of pistols, bought an AK, and now I'm trying to save up for a bolt-action .308... I don't need some Semi-Auto, state-of-the-art long gun, I just need something that, when SHTF or when I get a license, will get me dinner! [Beer]

Have you tried the Ruger Gunsite Scout?
Not exactly a sniper rifle, but I have one, and am very impressed with the accuracy.
It also fits the bill for "Practicool" with it's detachable magazine, backup iron sights, and compact size.

I made the mistake of going overboard with my AK. I've dialed it down since then. My AR is whored out in Magpul stuff but is still pretty simple. Everything else is bone stock.
