When my son was playground age we used to get in the truck and ride around on weekends looking for cool playgrounds. Sorry but memory isn't bringing any up except I remember we drove up by Estes Park one time and found some good ones. Good Luck [Beer]

There is a park in Golden. I can not remember the name. It has a huge playground and also it is next to Clear Creek. Lots of people tubing there. Maybe someone could help.

Edit: Its Lions Park

At Thornton pkwy and Sheridan, on the north east side, is a Peter Pan themed park that has water fountains. Make sure you bring them shoes though, because that fake padding gets HOT!

+1! I stumbled on that playground a few weeks ago when I took the kiddo to the zoo. Found it looking for somewhere to park for the zoo. I'd say that is right up there with one of the biggest pieces of playground equipment I've ever seen. My 2 year old had a blast on it.

+1 we stumbled on that park one saturday when the zoo was PACKED. Lots of equipment to handle high capacity. If you are way out east (or willing to drive this far) there is something called the Plains Conservation Center that has a large splash park and 2 dry playgrounds as well. You can access it off Jewell just east of Picadilly. There is also a nature center that can be accessed off Hampden and Picadilly. My wife has taken my daughter a couple times and says she loves it and the best part is it is free. I have no first hand knowledge as I work alot but the wife loves this place

Don't know if it's the best, but E.B. Rains Memorial Park in Thornton is pretty nice. Lots of kids playground equipment, and a lake with paddleboats.

It's at about 117th and west of Washington a couple of blocks.
