So I went out to Pawnee... Figured I'll try stretching it out to 1400 yards, HA! Was that a joke [ROFL1]
It was calm in the morning, but as soon as I get everything set up... sh*t! The wind kicked in 10 to 15 mph (maybe more) enough to blow my boonie hat off my head a few times. At times I even had to hold off 6 mils then back down to 2 mils for windage... elevation wasn't that bad around 1 to 2 mils holding high... even though it was a joke to try hitting an 18" tall, 12" wide target under those conditions it was pretty damn fun trying none the less [Coffee]

for sh*ts and giggles I tried hitting that 1400 yards with my SuperMatch... I ran out of elevation and was holding at the very edge of the glass... got a splash probably 10 feet away or more... felt like I was launching artillery or some sh*t [Coffee]
1045 yds at a 5x8 steel skull, that was fun!

IDK if my babushka can get back up. [Coffee]
I'm still a 308n00b, 800 is the furthest I've pushed it. I've pushed the 338lm and 300wm to 1250, and I'm hoping to get the new toy out further real soon.

I can hit 1200-yards consistantly with the 308. The other day I tried a mile, but couldn't see my misses because of the vegitation. After 15-rounds I gave up.
Assuming you're launching 175 SMK's at that distance.

A friend and I were shooting at 1240 yards one day and backed off the target 500 yards so we were at about a mile with my .308. (1740 yds. to be exact) Very little wind or I don't think we'd have been able to do it. Like someone else here mentioned, it can be hard to see your misses in the dirt at that range. With 168 grain amax at 7700 ft. elevation on a warm day it was easier than I thought. We ran out of elevation adjustment on the scope and were looking at the target through the bottom of the vertical stadia on the reticle, 25 mils up alltogether. We each hit a 10'' balloon (taped to cardboard) on the 3rd shot at that range. Quite the experience, just looking to perfect it. I've since switched my 20 moa base for a 30. Still have alot to learn about wind.

Sure thing. We shoot up above Cheesman Reservoir just outside of Deckers (i think it's goose creek road) There's never anybody up there when we go up on weekdays and you can reach out as far as you want as long as your aware of your backdrop of course. I don't have any good pictures but will get some next time we go out.
We were using my DPMS lr308, 24" bull barrell,1/10 twist, just an out of the box rifle really. I've been amazed at how accurate that thing shoots for a $1000 base rifle! With factory match ammo it shoots 1/2moa all day long. If you're really into long range stuff pickup a copy of Magpul's Art of the Precision Rifle, Todd Hodnett is amazing.

... and nothing to brag about, cause I didn't hit sh*t [LOL]
Started the morning at 0450 and got to the spot by 0630. My dumbass placed the target out to a mile only to realize that I'll be shooting into the sun at sunrise [Bang]
Did 10 shots.. just to get a feel for it. My scope was maxed and I was holding an extra 3 mils to get more elevation. Low and behold... splashes right next to the target. On the 3rd shot probably 6ft low and 6th shot 4 to 5ft right and low. 4 more down range while the sun was directly in my face. I couldn't see sh*t and just called it quits...
... will try this again another time[Coffee]
Target is 18"x12" *Note* the sun is rising [Coffee]

that looks like some hell of an open range out there, how far is that (pawnee) from highlands ranch? where we shoot it's pretty hilly so it's a little easier to see your misses in the dirt. oh, and sorry if it sounded like i was bragging, my wife slugged me in the shoulder when she read my post, i tend to get a little excited about extreme range shooting too.

I was shooting over 5 hills with the sun in my face... literally shading my aimin eye with my left hand and the right hand holding on to the rifle. [ROFL1]
Winds were decently blowing 10 mph (it felt like) west/towards me.
For what it's worth... with all things that came into play... the odds were really against me to hit the that 18"x12" steel target out at a mile. That's why I stopped at 14 rounds.
Next time around I'll have the target setup in the opposite side from what I had goin on that day. [Coffee][Beer]

2nd round (and third) hit at 1640-yards (1500-meters) using Prvi 175-gr FMJ-BT Match out of my Rem 5R. Had to hold 1-mil as my scope elevation was max'ed out (Premier 3-15 DT).
Target was a 25" x 39" steel plate.
This ammo is crap shooting it out of my GAP and Sako TRG rifles, but for some reason, it works well in my Rem 5R.

1150m green earnie style torso target (steel) with GI issue m24 sws.
I've shot my rem 700 AAC-SD out to 800m pretty regularly, rifle shoots 1/4 moa all day with hand load 168gr bthp. It also likes 175 too.
