Anybody have a place to get custom framing done at a good deal? I collect aviation prints and have a couple that need to be done. We've used Michael's but they seem highly priced even with the 50 off coupons.

If you were closer I would say head down my way.

We have a frame shop on base. I took the class many years ago and do a couple a year. The CNC mat cutter makes life so much easier.

I just picked up these two Berryman prints. My first WWI aviation print and first RAF print.

In keeping with the theme. This print has been sold out for years but one day I hope to find it on secondary market for a decent price....or become rich. In my opinion one of the greatest aviation prints of all time. Check out the kid on the hay bail as the 109's pass over.

"Low Pass for the Home Folks". William Phillips

William Phillips is one of my favorites.

I let this one slip through my fingers when it first came out. Had to pay for flying lessons...

Then I ran into Virginia Bader at the 99 Reno Air Races. She told me she knew of where she could find one on the secondary market. The price stung a little, but that was ok.

This one I picked up in France a few years back for a D-Day Anniversary.

Still trying to track down "Green Light Jump" by Craig Kodera. I have been looking for 5-ish years.

Not much these days. Too damn expensive. I miss the days of 100 Octane for $1.25 a gallon...

I bought the first edition of "two down one to go" more than 15 years ago. It was one of my first prints. Value has gone up a bit

Had two prints done recently at Michaels on one of their 60% off deal. They did an excellent job. Their 60% deal turned out to be about $60 less per print than another shop I checked.

Finally tracked it down (well, Virginia Bader did) this late last year. Got it for Christmas.

Then this little gem popped up. I dont have many modern airplane prints. Now to frame it. I have a feeling my basement is going to look like an aviation art gallery here in a few years. Also enclosed in the package was a RAF print.

Now to track down Phillips "Two down, One to go" litho, not the print.

Finally got some time away from the office and spent some time at the frame shop.

By far this print was the most stressful frame job I have done so far. We Were a Band of Brothers by John Shaw. Signed by a bunch of WWII Easy Company vets a few years back. Beautiful and almost impossible to replace. Looks good right below another Shaw print, A Higher Call. Hoping to make it to Normandy this June. I was there for the 60th Anniversary in 2004 and it was incredible. Bumped into Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks at Pointe du Hoc.

I am glad our front room has tall ceilings.
