Anybody been by the south location lately to see how well the area is thawing?
When you say "south location" and are refering to southern Florida.. all is well down here, I'm happy to report
When you say "south location" and are refering to southern Florida.. all is well down here, I'm happy to report  Are you still down there 7 ? Did you get to do some shark hunting while you were there? Spear fishing is one of my biggest desires. I used to have a spear gun years ago. I never shot it under water but, It had five rubber bands and would penetrate through 8 hollow core doors. I was going to ask you if you did any night dives? You'll have to tell us all about you trip when you get back. :P

I have not been to the south location in a few weeks. I've been kinda basing my thoughts about it based on my front yard. If I have a hard time getting in and out of my driveway, even after using a snowblower, then I know I don't want to try that nasty FS road with all this snow. I'll try to drive by this week and take a look though. Karl.
ok guys since this will hopefully be my first "Club Shooting Event"(weather permitting) what would be the expected equipment that I should bring? I was thinking of bringing my slide in camper for comfort as I will most likely have to bring the wife Targets to shoot at a table maybe some sort of sun shade a table food what else guys don't hold back. Side Note The Hooters girls are out since the wife is coming so don't go there I'm still digging out of the hole after suggesting it too the wife.

During the summer months I'd be reminding you of the obligatory cheesy brats  but it's too cold for cooking. [roll] So just remember, eyes and ears, targets, guns, ummm? [poke] Whatever you want to bring. Karl.

Karl are you feeling ok? [poke]

Karl...we are very concerned about you. Please let us know if you find this disgusting:
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o86/Atrain_dlp/bratwurst.jpg
Also, let us know if you still find this scene in Ghostbusters horrifying, not because of the ghost, but because the ghost has an insatiable appetite for Brats and it could have babies, potentially eating Brats into extinction.

Or deos this picture make you uneasy?

If there's a hint of mud and snow at the shoot I'll probably pass this time and go to the Crossroads of the West Gun Show. They seem to always pop-up at the same time the shoots are scheduled.
Has anyone checked out the shoot site yet?

Not me. I'll try this week. Right before the shoot, maybe thursday or friday. Karl.

Well I'm still stuck in Washington DC and don't know if I'll make it back early enough to get my act together for this one. My last three flights have all had delays of two to ten hours
I'll just have to hit Safeway and scarf up some cheesy brats and think good thoughts if I don't get back on time. [beer]

Oooh, hurry, save me the trip. Karl.
Forgot my camera (duh) so here are a few from my phone. Road is muddy and not 2WD friendly. Range is snow covered (around 6-8") up to the backstop. Should be fine once you get to the range. Backstop is pretty dry. My AWD minivan should be able to make it. I'll be there around 11am, with a small table and chairs. If anyone (with 2wd) wants me to pick them up at Mc Donalds at 10:45 or so, PM me. Just FYI, I have to jam at 2pm.
ETA: A buddy is letting me borrow his 4WD Suburban so I will have plenty of room for extra people and cargo.

Had a good time despite the weather was nice to meet some of the new members. The next south shoot we should be able to have a BBQ with some cheesy brats. That spare tire Karl carrys around his waist was looking a little small. I'm no medical expert but I think that is a clear sign of cheesy brat deficency. [roll]

Hunter, thanks forr letting me try your Serbu.
Karl, your .357 sucked!
Thanks to everyone for allowing my son to shoot their toys. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. Thanks also to HunterCO for showing me where my barrel is indeed stamped with the twist I have an eye appt scheduled on Monday now. I think March may be my worst month and my Doctors best first the knee then eyes now my wife is talking about removing me from the gene pool and she politely made the appt FOR ME  but again thanks to everyone and we look forward to seeing everyone next shoot when I will hopefully be on 2 legs not 3.
Sidenote: Cole told me this was the best shooting trip EVER and I agree with him

It was a good turn out today. The snow stopped after everyone left.
Like MPfive said Karl's .357 was a bear, my hand is still feeling it.

OK, why is everyone picking on my poor little pistol? Karl.
Is it the pistol's fault or the owner who wanted everyone to experience the same sting that he has? Karl, maybe you should get a S&W 329PD and bring it to the next shoot with full-house .44 magnum loads. [poke]
Perhaps Karl should be leery of the cheesy brats that people offer him in the future. One of them could be handful.
I tell you guys though it sure would have been nice to have weather like today YESTERDAY!!

What kind of .357 is this, a derringer?
In an emergency I think my old 4" Ruger could probably serve as a small boat anchor.

Hope to make the next North shoot. Been working on a couple things, including my first attempt at removing Cosmoline. [confused]

Heh, I shot that the same day last summer that I shot Marlin's Raging Bull in .454Casull.

Dude, trust me, it aint that bad. You saw your son shoot my gun, it was no worse than that. I aint looking to get ANYONE hurt. You would have been fine. I haven't seen a gun yet at our shoots that is too much for any normal male adult. Try it next time. Karl. [postal]
I will definatley try it next time there were so much toys to play with ah what a drag about my knee man that just bumms me out. first thing out of coles mouth after we left was "when's the next shoot?"so I may have to goto the north shoots too! HunterCO and Atrain had the gun I want to build next I think they were M4's but I'm not positive, I think with this crowd I couldn't have chosen a better group to shoot with everyone was awesome I really can't thank everyone enough.

I didn't make the shoot and am not sure which S&W you're talking about. But I have the Titanium/Scandium .357. I can shoot a cylinder full of .357 but it does hurt. On the other hand, it's my primary CCW gun because IT IS SO LIGHT! I carry .38+P defense loads in it.
Before you start the old argument I'll go on record saying if I knew I was going to a gunfight - first off, I wouldn't go, but if I had to I'd take either my P226 or P220. But failing that certain knowledge, the PD340 is my go everywhere piece.

Exact same gun. 340PD with Hi-vis sight and Crimson Trace Laser Grips. I also carry it as my main gun because of the light weight. I also carry 38Spec.+P Exploders. I carry a speed loader full of 357 Glasers for harder targets. I practice with at least two cylinders of 357's each time I shoot. I use 38 standard loads, usually 130gr., for most practice though. Karl.
