So, I have had my AR for about a year it is a BCM 16 inch upper with MOE hand guard and vert grip and DD fixed rear sight. The lower is a spikes tactical lower with MOE grip and a MOE stock.

So, where should i go from here?

It serves the role of all purpose carbine. I know I need a light and I want an optic.

I am trying to decide if I should stick with the MOE or go for a freefloat rail.

Should I go for a surefire scout light or mount a g2x?

Should I go with an ampoint PRO or another option?

I guess I am just looking for direction.

If you are unsure, I would try out a PA red dot, or if you want magnification get the compact 3x. Then if you want something more, spend the big bucks on an aimpoint. Oh and sure fires are the only way to go.. IMO!

What role do you want your rifle to fill?

As it is my only real rifle it needs to come in right after shot gun, so it is not a cqb weapon, but it needs to be capable of medium to longer range defense/SHTF. In addition it is also a range toy that I like to shoot recreational. I have lived with iron sights for a year and I want something quicker.

This one?

looks like an interesting option.

Question, would I have to replace my Fixed front sight with a low pro gas block, add a free float rail and then finally add a folding sight.

A FF rail is nice but not necessary. What do you plan to mount to it besides the grip and light?
As far as optics, I like the flexibility of a BAC equipped ACOG like a TA31F. Aimpoints are great as well. I would recommend either the pro or micro h-1, depending on weight and $ you are willing to spend. I learned my lesson on buying cheap optics. They will break! Save up for something of quality

Yeah, I don't think I want to go the rail route unless Free Float will help with accuracy. I am not sure if I want to go for magnification yet. I am still young and still have better than 20/20 (can't hear well however [UZI]). All i want to hang off my handgaurd is my current vfg which is for the MOE, my Sling which hooks on MOE and a Light which I will go with IWC anyways and they have a good scout light mount.

Anybody else?

My opinion is you should go ahead and build your second AR.

Look where it got me.

I do want to build a Block II SOPMOD for an m4gery later but that will be expensive. I just wanna finish off my 16 incher with optics and a light for now. I am still leaning towards the ampoint PRO, keeping the MOE hand guard and using a surefire scout light.

In the future I want to build that SOPMOD Block II I mentioned but i also want to build a MK12 spr and that will definatly be scoped. Idealy I want red dot/eotec/eclan on the SOPMOD, an ACOG or intermediat scope on the 16 inch and a nice peice of glass for long range on the MK12. I also want all 3 to accept the same supressor and a 300 blackout PDW 8-9" would be awesome as well.

But I agree with rbeau30, build another. You can spend a second AR's worth of money just upgrading this one. At the end you will only have one and not two...

FWIW: I love my magnification, got rid of all most Aimpoints...
