Brand new to Colorado and to the forum, and today at a "LGS" I was told I'd have to be a resident of Colorado for 90 days before I can purchase a firearm. I'm not sure if the employee was right or not so I wanted to ask here.
You need either a colorado driver's license or 3 months of utility bills to buy a firearm from a shop here. Or, if you are military, transfer orders.

What about a Colordo State ID?
Does it have your address on it?

I'll have to get one first, but yes it will have my address on it.

Why get an ID rather than just a CO DL?
but anyway yes, the ID will work.
When I moved here in 2006 that was one of the things I had to do also was be a resident for 90 days. Yes you also need a CO License.
far as I know the gun dealer will want a CO drivers license. I think they want a bill or something to prove your residency in CO.
I am not sure what the CBI will look at.

A CO issues State ID is also another form of id that can be used for a 4473.
Some folks do not have or never obtained a DL. Why who knows.

Reside in Colorado for 90 days, own or operate a business in CO, or be gainfully employed in CO; whichever comes first. That is what makes you a resident of the state.

Thank you. Very helpful information. Looks like I'll just get a DL instead.
