View Full Version : Anyone Know Where I Can Get Fat 50 aka SAW Ammo Cans in NoCO?
Before I go spend $18ea at Jax? Looking for clean or unused Fat 50/SAW ammo cans in the Northern Colorado area...Fort Collins/Loveland to be specific. I missed out on the free ones someone was giving away a month or so ago and I still need some for a project I'm working on.
Thanks!
buy a bunch of my ammo that I have in 2 of them!
I think someone posted a craigslist deal not long ago for some of them. I want to say to was down south though and maybe in the springs...kind of counter-productive for you and I. I think that I why i passed up on the deal.

His ad is still up in the ammo/reloading accessories for sale section. I believe he is in the springs this week working, and rumor has it he will be just south of Brighton next week.

well if that rumor is true I will need to send a PM. I can use some of those cans.

Yeah, thanks for nothing sniper7. You've been a big help. [LOL]

I was just there on Saturday and they don't have any of the SAW cans. Shae was going to let me know when they got more in but I'd rather not wait around as that's not necessarily a hot item they get in regularly I'm sure.

Maybe someone from around that area is coming up that way at some point. I don't think I'll be down that way anytime soon although we may be down that way near the end of the month. Hope to have something sooner though.

Actually, the word was 'or' not 'and' which makes a big difference. I'm looking for clean OR unused & yes, even the unused exist. I know it's a bit of a long shot compared to clean but I'm willing to accept either one. If all I was interested in was new that's what I would have said. Don't let that pesky reading comprehension keep you from telling us exactly how you feel though regardless of how helpful it may or may not be.

Sportsman Warehouse here in Loveland has some that are about as new as they get, but,,,,,,,$24.95.

Thanks for the heads up but Jax is even less at $18 but that's still pretty steep for ammo cans.

Maybe this : [Tooth] , would have conveyed the tone that was intended for my previous post.
Gander Mountain had some standard size New unmolested standard "50 cal." sized ammo cans. They are painted OD, no stenciling. Not repainted surplus. Don't know if they were contract overruns or reproduction civilian market cans. But they were selling them for around $ 20.

Yeah, that would have changed the tone a little and you may not have garnered such a snarky response out of me.
Thanks for the tip on Gander Mountain but what I need are the Fat 50/SAW cans specifically for a project I'm working on. I need the larger dimensions for it so the standard 50 cal cans won't work.

You could PM Mestes and when the next time he is going to the Springs, and ask him to hand pick you the best fat 50 can that the ammo can guy down there has.

I'll do that. Thanks for the tip.

I just saw that when I searched for Mestes posts and at $15ea I'm better off just buying them local at Jax fora couple bucks more since those are all the way in CoS. I thought this might be something easy but it's not looking that way. I remember when I was a kid we used to get these things for free from the National Guard Armory. I guess times have changed.
