View Full Version : What gun-related forum has the highest concentration of knuckleheads?

I admit that there are some internet gun forums that I visit for no other reason than to get a good laugh. You can always count of finding a troll or ten pissing everyone off and the drama that ensues can be quite entertaining.

So, in your opinion, what gun-related internet forum has the highest concentration of knuckleheads?

There are other gun forums? Here I thought we were all alone.

Seriously through the only other one I visited was S12 forum but I got tired of reading posts from newbies who watches to much Sons of Guns, bought themselves an S12 and then can't figure out how to run it. Use the search feature chucklehead.

Boy that's tough. Ar15.com has a lot of assholes that talk big and probably live in their parents' basement, they also have jag bag mods. You can get banned for the most ludicrous things even of you have proof in your defense, just ask me. M4carbine might be worse though, everyone there is an elite operator and apparently don't understand some shooters are recreational in nature. Every freaking thread gets derailed into how you gotta drop 4k on optics, our rail system needs to be made by knights and the ever infamous inconel muzzle device debates. It's obnoxious. Never been to glock talk since it has glock in the name but apparently it's terrible. Fan boys or what?

I got banned from M4 because I brought up this very subject. How a DPMS rifle will work just fine for most AR-shooters because they didn't need a rifle that would stand up to the rigors of warfare "in the sandbox". And Joe Citizen would be better served by saving his money on fancy accessories and tacticool shit and buying ammo to practice with.

Holy cow...what a shitstorm I got myself into.

I never realized that having the barrel parkerized under the FSB and black over blue extractor-spring insert was so freakin' important.

GlockTalk and Arfcom are probably the most obvious offenders ... although the signal to noise ration over on THR has had me spending a lot less time there (well that and I like it here better).

I'm sure some folk would see this place as having too many knuckleheads, but I think our knuckleheads are kept enough in check that this forum is still fun and interesting but nobody is peeing on the carpet.

A forum that is too serious is really no more useful than one that's full of too many idiots.

Not all are fan boys (though there are certainly some that are). It's difficult to explain the dynamics of that forum. I guess my best attempt would be to say that there are a lot of conflicting points of view which, more often than not, derail into a name-calling competition.

IMO, Snipers Hide is where you will find the most fan boys. Of all the forums that I peruse, that one has the highest concentration of a-holes per-capita.

Without naming names, mostly cause I dont remember, I usually bail when the fan boys get so rabid that they insist that an AR in 5.56 no less is the best rifle ever made for everything and I'm not bullshitting you including big game and pheasant hunting. Here everyone seems a little more chill and realistic.

Not surprising. I got in a simar argument when some casual novice shooter wanted a red dot and i told him things like primary arms are fine to start with and if he gets more serious get a higher quality brand. Holy cow, that place blew up

Local forums are almost always better because people are kept accountable by the fact you may run into the others in real life

I agree, it seems like you cannot suggest a "good enough for now" alternative at these "purists" sites, like the m4, glocktalk etc.

Like someone mentioned in a previous post here, getting a DPMS + ammo for the price of x is WAY batter than buying x and just 1. fondling it because they're gun poor now therefore getting to #2. they're still not familiar with a firearm, especially one that they own

Edit:

arfcom has a ton of idiots. if you aren't part of the pack, you get outed. and if you speak up wrongly about someone or something, you get banned pretty easily.

no kidding. I was making fun of some chick who posted pictures of herself and she was pushing 300. All the dudes were telling her she was gorgeous etc, and I was appalled by her even posting almost nude pictures of herself on the web, plus the dudes were drooling over it... I got banned for like a month and wonder how many pervs are on that site... Ewww.

I got banned for a calling a guy out, from his info he gave folks in his thread,

obvious and got banned for it. Im sorry if someone on here knew my wife

then Id want you guys to call me out on it and tell me to wake the f*** up.

AR15.com
used to be that AR15.com had very high concentration of knuckleheads in the form of demigod moderators and hunter-killer pack charter-members, but as they've grown over the last 15 years, the concentration of bafoonery and assholes has been diluted to the point where you don't hardly notice.

warrifles.com
was notorious for bullying, banning, blacklisting and generally harassing former members back in the day. I've not been back in 10 years or so, so I don't know if they've cleaned up their act. It got pretty mean and evil there for a while.

www.tncivilsociety.com
can get pretty ruthless and was started by an individual who'd worn out his welcome an several other forums.

m1911.org is one I used to hang out at a lot, but they're so strict and straight-laced it's hard to post anything without getting spanked for it. The owner is a Greek whose wife and kids read the forum too, and he takes no prisoners about any kind of "bad words". Whatever you write has to be safe for nuns, monks and The Pope.

I was nearly banned for saying that "I haven't received my order yet, I may have screwed it up". I ain't kidding either! If you use the word "screw" or "screwed" and it's not obviously in reference to a threaded fastener, you're in a world of shit.

Oh, it's an "international forum" also, and you have to mind your manners about not "offending" anyone in "other cultures". When Saddam was captured and I posted this http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b150/rinselman/smilies/saddamropesm2.gif , I thought they were gonna hunt me down personally and beat my ass for it.

Has to be arfcom! Such a high number of retards and HSLD operators. I remember getting called a dumbass, because I couldn't see the marxist/liberal propaganda going on in my Diff Eq class. Also so many posts are like: "I only use Crye Precision clothing when I perform tactical cqb operations at the range. I laugh when I see some retard there in jeans." and "Dear Soldier of Fortune magazine, you'll never believe what happened to me..."

Arfcom hands down.

There are some great people on there willing to help you out with your problems, and the EE is a good way to find stuff, but there are more than plenty HSLD armchair generals and insert-company-here fanboys that are more than ready to voice their expert opinion in anything and everything they dont agree with...

the thing that somebody else mentioned that I really like is that this is a local board. there really is a chance that you will run into somebody from the site. so i think that keeps everybody pretty much in line... not to mention, we are probably just cooler then everyone else lol

I don't know... the good people stick out, the idiots stick out... hard to tell who's the worst offender. Glocktalk has 166,000 members, Arfcom is huge too. The dingbats always make themselves heard, the good folk usually fly under the radar.

I still hang out in Glocktalk reloading and a couple of the back rooms. Met some really cool people from the place.

Sniper's Hide

Bad. Won't ever go back. Moderator and others have ruined it.

The only problem I've had there is everyone thinking every new product is a cheap Chinese clone and the only reason it's less expensive it's because it's a cheap Chinese clone. When you prove otherwise they switch it to "support the original manufacturers!!!" to which I say they are price gouging and then magically a few weeks later their prices come down 30 percent. Competition is a beautiful thing.

Calguns? Really? I found it to mostly be a group of great people that try their best to help shooters navigate the tricky world of gun ownership in the state. Of course there's the other group who just complain about everything and another group of complete idiots but that goes with every forum ever.

you shouldn't. You wouldn't have a unique opinion/point of view/idea if you hadn't been banned at least once.

--I've been banned 3 times in the last 10 years. 1st time was for stating if weight were not an issue the HK93 is superior to the AR15 is most other respects. 2nd time was being a little critical on a heavily adorned M4gery (said something like "do you really need all the ornamentation for a day at the range?") and the last time was for stating the only SHTF event 98% of those members will ever encounter is when mom and dad finally boot them out of the house.

Other than that, they still love me
