So, after being a devout pc user for the last 20+ years, I let my wife talk me into buying an iPad today.

It's going to take some getting used to, but I think I like it. I also like being able to take the forum to the garage with me when I go to smoke or to, uh, drop the kids off @ the pool. It sure is easier to carry around than my old laptop.

I have an android tablet I use to surf the web and watch youtube videos when I'm away from the computer and want to view it on something bigger than my phone.

Is it a free app? I'm not into buying a lot of stuff like app's but I'll do free anyway.

Because I may want to take my phone into the secure area I work in (but not into the facility I work in) I have to have a phone with no camera. This means I have a very basic old school phone (besides, I'm too cheap to get a data plan). Couple that with the fact that I use a Zune mp3 player - no iPod for me, and I have no experience with type of front end. It's a bit daunting.

love mine for reading books, can zoom in big enough I don't need my glasses. Surf the net on it too. Oh and movies on the go, I have the cable that hooks it up to a tv for hotel stays too.

I like mine too, they are ok. I still find myself on the PC far more that I use the iPad. Just to many things you cant do on an iPad that you can do on a PC, but they are cool

What I do is take my change jar to coinstar every so often and get the iTunes gift certs. coinstar doesn't take a cut of the change that way and i don't feel like I'm spending too much on apps/movies/songs cuz it was "just" my jar of change anyways .

There are a few drawbacks to the iPad (at least the iPad I), some of the photos and videos posted here are not viewable, and when some members post those huge pictures, the text scales down to what resembles tiny speckson the screen. You zoom in on the text, but then the picture becomes a super close up.
But my iPad is about all I use on this and other sites anymore.

I have an iPad 3. I wasn't too impressed with it and gave it to my son. He loves it, I like my laptop better.

I don't think I want to know about dropping off the kids. TMI.

Good and bad.

Couple of hundred more an you have a Macbook.
Free online, fee apps on iPad.
Firefox blocked, Safari only.

Ten hour battery life.
Books
Wifi/G4
The Square

Pros and cons but I will stick with a Macbook.

How the hell did anyone use the crapper before these?

I have now figured if you save your PowerPoint slide shows as a PDF file you can view them on your iPad in iBooks.
I love my 1st Gen Ipad. Still dows everything I want it to do and have not really seen a reason to upgrade after tinkering with one at the Apple store.
