Admins please help me. I cannot post replies in any of the sales sections. Is this related to the Great Crash?

Thanks!

Hey there newbie. New rules state you need 500 posts and 2 years membership before you can post in the for sale forums.

Wow, I can’t express how helpful all these comments have been to me in getting this resolved. You guys really do care about poor illiterate newbies like me who don’t have the sense God gave a door knob.
Let me clarify: I did read why I couldn’t post and I acknowledged the terms & conditions back in the Fall of 2011. I was able to post in the sales thread just last week. That’s why I asked if it might be related to the crash. Did my acknowledgement post of the terms & conditions get deleted with the Great Crash? Do I need to repost it? Can we bring this little tea party to a close and get someone to help me?

If you were able to post last week, it's unrelated to the crash.

If your agreeing to the terms thread was lost, it wouldn't affect your posting ability. Mods deal with that stuff manually.

What message do you get when you try to post in the forums?

I do not see the acknowledging post in the rules section. Must've been deleted.

They did some shuffling around of the locations of the rules on the 11th that changed the way permissions were automatically issued.

When we have a "Site Questions and Suggestions" forum, why oh why would this be posted in General Discussion? [LOL] Moving to the appropriate forum. :)

Now if only we had a forum where threads about legislation and politics could be posted instead of GD.

That term might be a little generous with people like me on staff. [LOL]

Also, to explain a bit further:

Manually tracking who had and hadn't acknowledged the terms and conditions was becoming a draining task on the admin team. Some smart guy wrote a custom modification to automatically check and restrict posts if there is not an acknowledgement for that user.

SO:

1. Yes, if your acknowledgement was lost, you have to re-do it. The system has no idea whether or not you had one there before the crash.
2. As soon as you acknowledge, you will be granted access nearly immediately (as long as it takes the server to update the DB, usually seconds or less)
3. It is a problem for users new and old. We have had many 700+ post members, and some 4 digit post members have to acknowledge. Some had for sale threads going at the time, which I found a little humorous.
4. It is a policy for everyone. Nobody is being singled out or granted immunity. One of the perks/drawbacks of the automated system. All it can tell is whether you have acknowledged in the thread as it stands now, and have passed the probationary 30 days, it knows nothing else about you.
