Interesting question. I don't know a whole lot about suppressors, but it doesn't sound like a good idea to use a pistol can on a rifle. But I don't know. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in soon.

AFAIK, AAC is the only company that guarantees their 9mm cans when used with 300BLK. Other people have used other upper-tier cans in this configuration, but without guarantee.

I have heard of other people having success with SWR and Gemtech 9mm cans on a 300BLK.

One important thing: you must ONLY shoot subsonic ammo through the 9mm can. They won't hold the pressures of the hot loads (Do not take this as a guarantee from me that it WILL hold pressures of subsonic).

I haven't looked at ballistics, but will the 220gr subsonic rounds stay subsonic out of a 16"bbl? It may require SBR length barrel to ensure it stays subsonic.

I've just finished my research in this very area and settled upon a Liberty Mystic (http://www.libertycans.net/mystic.html). Though designed as a 9mm can, it handles 300 BLK supersonic (>8" barrel) and .223 (>16" barrel).

Though sound supression is important, I do consider factors like maintenance, cost and multiple caliber support as well, and this one came out on top (for me).

Have you been considering an adjustable gas block? I'm looking at them right now and am a bit overwhelmed by all the choices out there. Will probably cross my fingers and buy something that has good reviews on Midway/Brownells.

I too got the 300 Blackout bug and have two 300 Blackout 12.5 inch barrels ordered. I'm trying to find a four position adjustable gas block for use on these barrels. Let me know if anyone has some info on adjustable gas blocks and using a 9mm can on the 300 Blackout. I have a AAC Ti-Rant 9mm on the way and have been wondering if I can use it on the 300 Blackout.

This is the first I have ever heard of using a 9mm can on a 300BLK. Makes sense. I was just planning to use my 308 can.

I think you will find the legenth differences to be minimal between the rifle and pistol cans. The up side to the rifle cans is you can switch from host to host easily if you get a QD can. You will just need to bug the QD mounts from the company. The YHM Phantom will handle any load you can fit down the tube. The 7.62 can will handle all the way up to .300mag. The high end pistol cans I believe can handle the 300blk out sub sonic only. I would check the web pages or even drop them an email to get the most accurate answer. I can attest to YHM and AAC quick email responses. I will also say I got a live human at SilencerCo. I think it was even the owner but not sure. Good people. For a pistol silencer I'd recommend AAC TiRant or the SilencerCo Osprey. Both are really good cans. Top of the line by most standards. Consider a .45 it you want a real "do all" can pistol calibers only. The TiRant can even be disassembled for cleaning, so you could use it on a .22 Good luck.

I would say that is a wise choice. You can shoot anything through it sub or supersonic .30 cal or smaller. Not good for a .22lr tho. Check out Silencer forum for some DB numbers if you haven't already. I just bought a YHM 5.56 can. They are a little heavy un less you get the Ti one. Their 7.62 can will handle any .30 cal round you throw at it tho.

Just looked at you pics you posted. Internet doesn't always load them. If I am not mistaken you want to have a permanently attached can to an SBR so you only have to pay for only one tax stamp? In other words a 5in can on a 11in barrel to make it 16 in overall. Is this what you are after?
Never mind I think I just figured it out. You want a SBR with a tube on the end of it to get the required overall length. The suppressor will then go inside the tube when you want to use the suppressor. You would not be able to use a Quick Detach can mount on a set up like that. If you go to a threaded only mount you need to keep a glove or strap wrench around to make sure the can stays tight. If it works loose even a little you can get a baffle strike. That would also mean you would have to take the muzzle devices off or your other hosts in order to use the can on them. If you want a shorter package without going to a SBR look at AAC stuff. The mini7 ads only a couple of inches overall I think. It wont be as quiet at the muzzle as some of the other cans but the at the ear Db should be close.
