The house takes up the entire lot. If you reach out of your window ands your neighbor reaches out of there's you could almost touch hands.

People want square footage at the lowest price ... land in Colorado ain't cheap so they put bigger and bigger houses on smaller and smaller lots.
I agree, they look more and more like condo/townhouse complexes and not single family home neighborhoods.
Share a cup of coffee with your neighbor without leaving your home.

Screw that, utilities are expensive! I want about 1500 sq ft for my family of four. And even if we bump it up to five that is still a good size.
My 3 kids need room to roam. I have since pushed them out into the street.

Not to mention they have 116th street, way, court, avenue, place, then 117th street, way, etc etc etc. And for some strange reason they van make he streets straight, have to be trendy and curvy...

While nice, quote would be a bastard of a commute for me.

I'd rather live in a row house. There's no point in going suburban, when houses are that close together.
The less yard you have, the more house you need.

There's nothing like having your own space. That's why I moved to the mountains. I can sit outside for hours and never see one car drive by.
Some folks want a giant house and want to remain in it all all times. I like these folks because they stay out of the mountains.
To each his own.
No, I mean, if I have to be close to people, I want a large house. If I have land, the house can be smaller. Trust me. If you sit outside MY house for an hour, you see no less than 1,000 cars drive by, 10 loud stereos, 10 emergency vehicles, 2 drag races, loud karaoke (on Wednesdays) till 1:00 am from the bar across the street, 4 separate groups of roaming teenagers, people pushing shopping carts (before they closed the grocery store attached to the bar), 11 different people walking their dogs and having them crap and pee in your yard or the "community area" (while they throw their cigarettes in the lawn), the occasional person trying to steal your occasionally outdoor cat, and an HOA nazi telling you not to grill on your porch.
Given the circumstances, I guaranty you'd want a large attached garage and huge basement to hang out in as much as possible.

Here I come south Carolina! Cheap land, cheap houses, beautiful weather, amazing hospitality. But, I will miss this beautiful state.
You can skype with Bailey Guns on the weekends after you move.

Oh yeah. Now I have no garage (which does suck...working on that) but do have a little land and plenty of space, even though our house is kinda small, but adequate.
I used to have a huge 4 car garage in Westminster which I miss a lot....I forget what the # of beds and baths were. [ROFL1]

i've got .25 acre in the middle of town, so do most the other surrounding properties. Almost all country feel to it too. 1000 sqft house, detached garage. Built in 1922.

I lived on thirty acres until I was 5. Then my parents moved to a place with about 3 acres. I'd go crazy if I had to live in "suburban hell".
Puttin' my house on the market tomorrow at 5PM MT and movin' down-the-hill once sold. Even though it's for the right reasons and under favorable circumstances the decision is rippin' my phukken guts out.

Just moved from Northglenn to Coal Creek Canyon yesterday and I can't imagine ever going back. Haven't heard any thumping trunks of rattling speakers, sirens, or drag racing....... But who knew hummingbirds are so damn loud?
u know whats even better then leasing a small apartment with aholes above/below/and next to you annoying you all hours of the day?
working hard, saving up some money to buy a home where you have aholes 4 feet away from you annoying you all hours of the day.

I bet there's no shortage of sport bikes screaming up and down the canyon.

Far enough away from the actual canyon that I don't hear them. I don't get people that actually live right in the canyon..... Dark, noisy, and cold.

It's like spaghetti sauce... everyone likes something different. I'd like a little more elbow room than what I have now, but I meet a lot of people that are looking for small, low-maintenance yards (I sell Real Estate).
Then there are the folks who want westside wierdness, and others that get excited about the Powers corridor and all the shops, Chili's, Kohls, Texas Roadhouse, et cetera. I get yuppies that think they're ranchers and want a bunch of horses... part of me wants to pull the pin on the reality grenade for them and talk about shoveling horse shit and cutting back the hooves. The other, wiser part of me says don't miss this grand opportunity to shut up and get them what they're telling me they want.
Welcome to Boulder. '50s ranch houses scraped for "wall to wall" house. Give me 3/4 of a million $ and you will not even see my house.
I can still see my neighbor's house. Too close.

It makes it easier if they need to borrow a couple of eggs or a cup of sugar...it's to encourage friendly neighbors.
I agree, it sucks.
Damn, I'd move to the country tomorrow if I could make a decent living out there. People do it, but I don't know how. I'd make a great hermit.
And people always ask why I want to build in such a condescending tone. That's exactly what I tell my wife, you just can't find good land and a newer home these days. It's one or the other
I'd like to find a good realtor who could help me find good land. Whenever you ask one you only seem to find ones that want to make a quick sale with a house. [Bang]

It's easy, just retire. When you are out in the country, it doesn't take that much to get along on....[Beer]

A house in my neighborhood sold recently that would have fit the bill. A couple got a nice house built as a shell that they'd finish. Before it went too far they got divorced and the bank got it and sold it cheap since it was weird. The upstairs living area was finished really basically but adequate for a guy. It has an unfinished 2000 sq. ft. walkout basement with high ceilings, maybe 10 feet and a 7 car garage. A friend who restores old cars was lusting after it but it was too basic for his wife.

When I win Powerball (tomorrow), I will buy a house that I can shoot my rifle off the porch...front or back.

My house is like that. I keep the kitchen blinds closed so I dont have to watch my neighbors eat dinner.
