View Full Version : Something funny ran across my mind
So today while I was waiting to get my finger prints at the Arapahoe Country Sheriffs office, I came to a realization. I find it funny that it takes 5 minutes to be allowed to purchase a firearm, but 90 days to be allowed to conceal said firearm. Because concealed weapons are more dangerous right? Haha stupid.
It's cause the FBI gets involved with the background and supposedly it's more involved. Plus they like to make you wait and take their sweet ass time checking you. Basically when they get around to it, I think.

This is what happens when rights are treated like privileges by people (the state) that don't want you to have those privileges.
Buying and carrying a machine gun should be as difficult as buying a gallon of milk.
I thought this thread was going to be about a jogging clown....

well they make it take 90 days because then the criminals who ALL apply to get their CCW's will be deterred from committing crimes. thank you gooberment! [Coffee]

which is kinda silly because joe criminal isnt gonna wait for his permit to start packing his piece.

This! We wait it out, because, and I had a friend who is somewhat high up in JCSO say this, "That's the way it works!" Sure it could work as a deturrant, but that's only because the would-be criminal would carry for legal purposes. Think of all the CCW permit holders in the state- I wonder what the number of total carrying concealed is, both legal and illegal... I'll bet the truth is shocking!
I agree with Zund, technically speaking, the way our framers thought it would/should be, we should be allowed to walk the streets of the US with a full auto MP-5SD that we just picked up at the local gun store... In a more perfect union... Alas, guns pose no more danger than a lawnmower- in the wrongs hands they can be fatal, but if used properly and safely there should be no hubub about it.
According to a policeman here, they confiscate 50-60 guns a semester to non ccw holders on the auraria campus. It's like someone is going to worry about the gun laws before committing a crime. So dumb.
