Last night my Australian Kelpie goes nuts at the door. I figure it's the typical fox and hound games, but after she takes off, I hear scurrying up a tree at the edge of the front yard (25m away). Thankfully my dog kicks ass and came right back to me waiting at the door. I keep her in while I shine the spotlight, I'm thinking another raccoon if we're lucky, but we have had a little 2-3 year old black bear hanging around this week. Sure enough a minute later I hear more scurrying coming down. This bear hops out of the tree and into the woods.
My trail cam happened to be pointed right at that area and it was on video setting. This morning I check and no bear in the clip. Much to my surprise, the next thing caught on film 3 hrs later was mountain lion sauntering down my driveway. We always assume they are there watching us, but this was a nice reminder. I figured my basset hound would be all over the yard picking up scents, No he is out making his normal rounds like there is nothing out there he doesn't smell every day.
If anyone knows how to post AVI format video let me know.

That's a great video. I'm sure it's interesting having that kind of wildlife around.

That things a monster. He would make a nice wall hanger.
Sweet! Nice vids! The only cats in my yard are the neighbors which shit all over and sit on our cars scratching the hoods.

Yes it would look great on my wall! Always wanted the hat/shawl (?) combo, mountain man style. We're pretty cautious up here. The basset is old and pretty slow, he has always been a concern with the larger critters. Had a friend staying here evacuated from springer fire. She had her chihuahua mutt bait dog yapping all week, we're telling ourselves thats is what drew them in.
As far as tree'ing domestic cats, the kelpie is very friendly towards cats, as long as they keep in line as part of the herd (not). She is scary good at herding cats, although they do not appreciate it.
Camera has been reset. We'll see what shows up next.
Awesome! I have a buddy down in WP trying to get a big bear that he has been seeing on his game camera but he would drop a turd if he had a mountain lion show up on it!
Thanks for sharing.
I need one of those cam's for my walkway between my house and my neighbors... We had our trash dug through a countless ammount of times last year. I know I know whatever it was, was big because I tied it to my welding table (till it broke the rope) and it would just over turn the table to get my trash...
