Survey says NO to NcStar. Any recommendations without spending an arm and a leg?

You will probably get a lot more responses if you could be more specific.
What type of scope are you looking for?
How much are you willing to spend?
What features in a scope are you looking for?
Help us out a little.

What is an arm and a leg?
I have always thought this scope was one of the best buys on the market. It is <$300 has great clarity, side focus, and a mildot.

More info...
My red dot takes me to 100 yds, but I lack good target focus at that distance.
I really don't know much about scopes.......my objectives:
I would like to see the 100 yd mark with more clarity, so 100-300yd +-. A more realistic range is the 200 mark......not much opportunity or need for extended range. Please make a magnification range recommendation.
Drop compensator would be nice.
I like things simple. I can skip bells and whistles.
Quality at a reasonable price. I really don't know what to expect $ wise.
Don't want ot spend more than I have to.
Thanks!!
What is your price range?
Good short range optics range from the Leupold 1.5-5 at $400-ish to the S&B Short dot over $2,000. In the middle is the ACOGs, Nightforce 1-4s and the USO SN4s.

A Burris Fullfield II 3X9X40 with ballistic plex cross hairs is what I have on my varmit rifle. They are just under $300 and would be good for the ranges your looking for.
You can also get it with mil-dot cross hairs. As Tom stated you can spend a lot of money on optics. I however would at least drop around $300 on what I and the others have said. Don't buy some $100 tasco or bushenell POS.

The IOR's are really nice, maybe if I can find a great buy somewhere.....the Burris is more do-able because of the price, research gives it very good reviews.

I am a pretty big fan of Barska. They are reasonably priced and decent quality. Especially their Swat scopes. I have 2 scopes and a set of bino's from them.
Super Sniper 10x (or 16x) or Bushnell Elite 3200 - both have target knobs for ease of adjustment and MILDOT. That Nikon gets great reviews all around too.. the two I list are the ones I'm using on a Remmington 700 308 and my 20" AR platform
