Just don't have money for another one. I just picked up a new Savage 111 in 30-06. Kinda broke now.

Oh I'm still buying. If someone please has a nice kit build 74 side folder or an Arsenal 5.45 side folder hit a brother up.

I'd like to get one as an AK is next on my list. Looking at Yugos pretty seriously.

I've been working and shooting, not buying. It's probably better for the pocketbook that way. Besides, I haven't seen any deals worth jumping on.

I bought a Galil, so I gave up on the .223 build you watched me bend at the last build party. I sold the bent flat and I am guessing that you will see it at one of the future build parties when the buyer (and board member) brings it to complete it as a true 74 build.

Now all future funds are being marked for mags and ammunition. [Coffee]

I work solo and I'm not cheap [ROFL1]

Apparently member titles have become an interesting diversion for some of the more impish and playful moderators. I dare not say more as it could easily result in a new title which would be less flattering [Flower]

Everything I do these days is saiga based seems like its cheaper than kit builds, of course I do I have one more flat if I ever come across a kit for less than 2 bills.

Well if you allow Saiga's and other than 7.62x39 I'm almost done feeding my addiction.

4 Saigas i restocked with Kushnapup stocks. For variety I did a shotgun in 12 gage and 3 rifles, .308 Win, 7,62X39, and 223 REM.

I haven't shot any of them yet. I have a few minor details to go. As hot as it is I'm not sure when I'll get to them.

This started out just doing the shotgun but it sorta got out of hand. I think (hope) I'm not doing any more.

Wish I had the funds for a new one, picked up a cheap AK a couple months ago and now love the platform.

Anybody seen any good deal lately? They have seemed to dry up on the site as well.

I'd be interested in a range report when you get a chance to shoot those bullpups...

What do you think of the feel so far?

I bought the flat of of cstone (or should I say CST 1). I'm hoping to have my kit and barrel by this fall, but the wifey is about to drop any day w/ our first, so kid stuff takes priority over gun stuff--no matter how much I try to convince her otherwise :)

I'd be interested in a range report when you get a chance to shoot those bullpups...

What do you think of the feel so far?

I like the feel. The trigger pull length is 15 3/4 inches and I normally find anything over 14 inches excessive. Except these somehow feel good, not long at all. I thought I wouldn't like the vertical foregrip because of the taper but it's grown on me so I find it at OK now.

The action is almost a straight in front of the butt pad like an AR. That makes the sight line about 2 1/2 inches above the barrel so any sights need to mounted kinda high.

The balance isn't bad. Most pullpups I've handled have been tail heavy. The balance feels comfortable, not tail heavy at all.

The triggers are fantastic. It doesn't add anything bad to the way the trigger feels. It is absolutely smooth. It does add a some weight to the trigger pull but on 3 of them I ended up with about a 40% reduction in pull weight. On those 3 I installed Tapco fire control groups and that dropped the pull weight in half from factory Saiga.

There are some very real negative traits to the stocks. They don't involve shooting though. I originally pre-ordered 2 when they were still in development. I wanted one for my shotgun and one for spare parts. After I had the stock installed on the shotgun I liked it so much I couldn't stop. If they hadn't felt so good I wouldn't even considered the other 3.

If I find out that Saiga is making a 22rf kit or rifle there will be one more made.

I haven't been able to get the internet order thing to work when ordering the last 2 stocks. I ended up mailing the orders in. They responded to my email questions promptly.

Good luck Jim!! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I have been blowing my AK money on a custom Pennsylvania Long Rifle build. I have spent all the money I need for now. Keeping my eyes open for an RPK kit.

Wait, why do they only work with Saiga? You can't put one on a regular AK?!? Damnit, I want one for my Draco SBR!

The Kushnapup trigger linkage only works when the trigger is at the back of the receiver. It will not work with the trigger that sticks out directly below the Fire Control Group.

It would be easy to convert a normal AK to the rear position trigger if you could get a one piece trigger/sear like Saiga uses in some of their long guns. It would be easy to make the long Saiga trigger/sear also. This is assuming the other receivers are te same as the Saiga.

What's your price range and caliber choice? Under, side folding, wood or plastic furniture?

Which AK should I buy? I don't and never have owned any.

if you have no idea what direction to go then maybe go out shooting with some guys that have a few different variants of ak's and see what you like.

but if i were to answer your question i would say a saiga 5.45 and do a pistol grip conversion and bullet guide (don't forget 922r), you can run it with either a fixed stock or various side folders with the same fixed stock trunnion and the ammo is cheeeeaaaaaap.

if you're wanting a 7.62x39 i'd say either the same as above in 7.62x39 or an F.E.G. manufactured AMD-65 that is just my opinion though

I am still working on a zastava pap. But I'm very limited to what I can do. But Bert from bp tactical did an amazing job on the mag well. But if anyone has a m70 receiver cover I would really like to buy it

Ah I did a pap too, for a stock I used an m76 stock from assault weapons of Ohio and m70 handguards, as far as a top cover rguns has new virgin yugo top covers

There isn't much selection for yugo stocks, you can buy an ace adaptor for yugos though

that is awesome.. that top rail; is that one of the ones that attaches to the rear site thingy? I have been kinda wanting one of those, but ended up going with the side mount piece that curves over the dust cover.

(yeah... thingy lol)

edit: after looking at it, it might just be one of the dust covers that has the rail on top....

jreifsch80
06-26-2012, 13:38
That's just a top cover that has a rail riveted on, it came factory from serbia but I wouldnt recommend it since its so wobbly unless using a reddot at close range and just looking for functional accuracy
