I spent a week at the High Park fire with my Guard unit and took some photos with my cell phone. I wish I would have brought a good camera with me. The citizens of the area were amazing to my Soldiers, bringing home made meals, snacks, water, gatoraide, coffee and all sorts of things to them at their checkpoints, all the while not knowing if their homes were safe or not. Some knew their homes were destroyed, yet were very kind to my people.

I saw some amazing work done by the firefighters working the line. I also saw a lot of administrative layers upon layers, which add to the total cost of this massive operation. The federal money was flowing!

Thanks for your service. [Beer]

I know some people up there that the fire came within feet of their house. It was still standing, last they heard. They are very thankful to all the people helping fight this fire.

Ditto! I had the pleasure of delivering propane to the Salvation Army kitchen trailer and some Red Cross trucks at the fairgrounds last week. The kindness of the people there was truly amazing.

Great news but sad for the tragic loss of life and homes/property.
