On my way south on I-25 a deer popped out of nowhere.. well, drivers ahead of me had their hazard lights on and so I slowed down and proceeded with caution. I was glancing to my right (where traffic was) and surprise A DEER! [Shock]

Just thought I'd give all of you a reminder that animals out in the wild are running in the opposite directions the fires are burning...

Stay safe everyone [Beer]

I almost hit one the other morning on 36 at 530. Scared the shit outta me and it woke my ass up. Must of been 7 inches from my bumper.

the deer ran right in front of me... kinda felt sorry for the thing. I know that animal was scared as hell...

I just have a snow plow on my mustang all year round so if I hit a deer I just see them fly up and out of the way.

Kind of reminds me of this video.
I don't think you can avoid something this close.

Mine was just like that except the deer was bigger and faster and I actually swerved. The cop had some horrible reaction speed, he didn't even try to turn. Somehow I hit my breaks and turned to the left as the deer jumped over the intersection wall. Still gets my adrenalin going.

Everything I've been taught says not to swerve if you might hit an animal in the road. You actually increase your chance of a life-threatening accident by turning the wheel and doing anything other than just hitting the brakes. A national study over the last decade shows that fatalities from vehicle-wildlife accidents were almost all from incidents where the vehicle swerved to avoid the wildlife and lost control of their vehicle. Besides, vehicles stop better if they are rolling forward, not sliding sideways, right?

Yeah speaking of the critters running from the fire...

Last Friday morning I pulled into the shop about 5am, freaking 2 bull and 3 cow elk out in the vacant field across the parking lot. And I'm basically in town. Thought it was pretty crazy!

Pretty awesome coffee drinking for 20 mins tho!!
