It will take forever. the "feel good" people will rally around the alleged shooter and inundate us with stories how good a kid he is, loving father etc. All the while a LE is gone leaving behind children, family and friends. That's justice.

Condolences to the children of a murdered mother, may the shitbags who committed this act never find peace in this life or the next.

Posted in the comments section over at DP.
Stuff like this makes my eyes bleed.
Some punk always needs to act like a big shot and ruin it whenever there is a free concert. There is no legitimate reason to be carrying a handgun in the middle of a crowd of thousands of people, but punks don't care about that. Now a female police officer is dead, probably over something minor like the gunman was smoking weed in public and he panicked because he was in possession of an unlicensed handgun. Don't carry guns to the music festivals, and if you get pinched for being stupid in public just do your time like a man. Shooting a lady cop in the middle of a music festival and panicking everyone so children are being trampled underfoot is pretty much the worst thing someone can do. Rest in peace, officer, and sincere condolences to your family and friends.
Seems like this event is a more than legitimate reason to be carrying.

I've been to city park jazz many times over the years and as recently as two weeks ago. Decided not to go tonight since it was so hot.
I have been more and more nervous about going as there is an over representation of a certain element.

As a member of a law enforcement family, I can only imagine how devastated we would be if my brother were killed in the line of duty. As someone with strong libertarian tendencies, I occasionally disrespect the behaviors and attitudes of some in law enforcement. I never will disrespect the sacrifice and hard work that goes into that job.
It takes a special person to put on the blue every day and put up with the dregs of society all the while taking incoming from management, politicians and even the citizenry. Most who do it comport themselves with honor and integrity. You have my deepest and heartfelt gratitude for what you do.
May God cradle her children in the palm of his hand and comfort all who knew her in this time of grief and loss. May she take flight on the wings of eagles to a place with no suffering or sadness. There she will know that peace that passes all understanding until the time comes where one by one, those she left behind rejoin their mother, sister, daughter or friend on the banks of the River Jordan in that sweet bye and bye.

ANYONE who would shoot an innocent by stander needs to be lumped in to your statement. How many times does a shooting report mention "innocent bystander" in it when "bangers" get going?

I agree wholeheartedly Jim!
Been reading about it online and damn it if it puts a lump in my throat
My heart goes out
that Mfucking pos shit!!!! who the fuck does that! over what!?!? [Rant1][M2]
One person is in custody, police are still searching the area.
Chief Robert White said one person, who possessed a gun, was in custody but that the person had not been confirmed as a suspect.
I do hope they caught that POS. I hope that the writing conveyed this wrong, but reading the article leaves me wondering if the person in custody could have been a good citizen with a CCW. If they are not yet listed as a suspect, and the police continued to search the area, part of me thinks that they weren't all to sure of who they had in custody.
This is very sad. I hope her family gets the justice they seek. But two things I have to mention:
Chief Robert White said one person, who possessed a gun, was in custody but that the person had not been confirmed as a suspect.
If this person turns out not to be the shooter I fear that he/she will be branded regardless by the idiotic libtards, akin to what Rooskibar posted.
Secondly, I have a theory that this may have been a sort of "gang initiation"- a few of the CA National Guard guys that I served with in Afghanistan (they were part of our Civil Affairs team) were cops and said that they get targeted all the time in initiations for gangs. Pretty scary stuff. Anyone who kills a cop in cold blood should be given the heaviest and most painful death sentence available (or can we just make the death sentence a little more excruciating?).

I'm surprised how often people bitch about how rude and mean Denver PD officers are. Look at what they have to deal with all of the time? I hope they find the one responsible.

"When you surround yourself with shit you eventually get a shitty attitude." I hardly ever get pissed at DPD, unless they step over a line (which actually is rare in my experience). I do, however, think that a good majority of the folks DPD is forced to have to deal with are POSs, and I'm not surprised that sometimes DPD takes a little more aggressive stance towards the scumbags. If Denver wasn't full of idiots, assholes, and low-life pawn feeders I'm sure the cops would be a lot cooler. Regardless, a cop never deserves to be shot for doing their job. Arg! I'm pretty upset right now.

hes giving interviews saying they dont think the POS ghetto trash meant to kill the Officer.
Hey dumbass are you trying to set him up to get off? Or some lesser charge? Chief must be a democrat, the gun just magically appeared in his hand an magically killed a Cop. But, he didnt mean to do it. all the guns fault not the ghetto trash.
this is the same chief that gave remarks at the new scientology center in denver and afterward said he was unaware of any criticisms of the church of scientology.

Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.
A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER
Lord I ask for courage
Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...
Courage to take me
Where others will not go...
I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...
I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...
Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...
And please Lord
Through it all
Be at my side...

edit: i should say that my main problem is obviously the crime that was commited... just trying to keep it light..

Turns out that the officer is a friend of mines brothers girlfriend...
Colorado still has the death penalty doesn't it ?

Last time I checked we did... Remember McVey- they sent him here for an impartial jury and our awesome supermax facility for federal death row inmates [Beer]
This guy will get his due, and I honestly don't want to have my taxes support a life sentence, but also death seems just too good for him... can't we have a public beating for all DPD officers to partake in first?
