In response to the loss of the Denver officer last night Mayor HanCOCK made a statement, here is an excerpt:
He asked residents to let police know if they see someone with a gun, and to turn in weapons they find in their homes.
"We need to get these weapons off the street and out of the hands of these young people," Hancock said.

Police believe Rollin Oliver, 21, shot Hollis in the head when she responded to a report that two groups were fighting during the City Park Jazz concert Sunday night.

i don't know anything about the guy and am not defending him, but i watched the press conference and although the rhetoric was suspicious, what he was trying to say is that they need to get guns out of the hands of teens and others who have them illegally because kids don't understand the damage they can cause. basically he was talking about high school and slightly older than high school kids that are gang banging. again, i don't even know the guy or care about him, but during the press conference it really didn't sound that bad, just poor choice of words.

im as paranoid about the government as the next guy and im not saying something won't come out of it, im just saying that when he was talking about it, on tv, it sounded fairly clear what he meant and didn't make me want to go grab my tin foil hat.
Peter Boyles (630am khow) said this morning that there are tape recordings of the Mayor regarding some sex harassment case and the blowback from it should hit him hard. I am not holding my breath...

9 news just clarified what the mayor said. Clearing up the gun issue it was for parents if they know their juvenile aged kids have access to or in possession to get rid of it, by turning it in.

Whew! I was about to turn in my guns. I cannot trust myself cause I carry a gun legally and went through all the work just to do it cause I am a bad guy and plan on doing some criminal activity.

I believe he was to be in court today. From what I read, numerous witnesses pegging him as the shooter.
Still doesn't give the Mayor the right to blame all gun owners or young people for that matter. I will wait for the conviction before blaming the scumbag who is charged with the cops murder.
