Hello,
This is Sarah Proctor from the Pawnee National Grassland. I know a lot of
you have either helped out with past target shooting clean ups or you have
been interested in doing some clean up out on the Pawnee. I just wanted to
inform you and kind of give you a heads up in advance that we are planning
to do a clean up in May this year, most likely on May 12, and have May 19th
as a back up in case weather is bad on the 12. Right now we are planning
on working from 9am to about 3pm (and if you need to leave earlier that is
fine too.)
So right now I am just trying to get the word out and hopefully people will
mark their calendars and tell anyone else they know who might be
interested. We are doing this in conjunction with the Denver Audubon
society so they will have some volunteers and I am hoping to get some
volunteers to help as well. The area we are planning to clean up is a big
area so all the help we can get would be great! It is an area that is
popular for target shooting, and just this year we have closed our Forest
Service road ( FS road 41) in this area to help restore and clean up the
destruction and trash that has damaged this area. If you are familiar with
this area ...it is near County road 102 and road 41. And depending on how
much help we get there is about 1-4 sections we would like to clean up.
I'd kind of like to get some feed back from you all, if you think you might
be able to help us out in May or not. Also we are kind of searching around
to see if anyone has access to dump trucks. We had one last year but I
don't know for sure if we can use it again this year. So I am just trying
to see if maybe someone knows someone who has access to one, and they
wouldn't mind if we use it on May 12.
There is no rush to get back to me, I am just doing some early planning and
get a feel for how much help we may be able to get. But please do let me
know, and spread the word as much as you can! By the end of the month I
should have a little flyer made up to distribute.

you out there again this year!
