believe it or not
bass pro shops is usually cheaper than even wal mart on fishing gear (and fishing stuff alone)
the best deal is to cruise craigslist.
lots of people selling their fishing gear.
i got an entire car load of stuff once. 20+ rods and reels, boxes and boxes of bait, lures, swivels, etc, etc, etc (I mean LOTS), waders, books, etc for $300
yes, best deal ever.
If you have the time, I like to read the reviews of products on Amazon before buying.

Yeap, Amazon is the only place where you can find honest reviews these days, IMO.
www.tackledirect.com
Thanks man!

Actually, I'd suggest visiting web forums dedicated to fishing as the enthusiasts on such sites are generally far more into it than those that post on Amazon or such places.
Each type of fishing has it's own sites so seek out the ones appropriate for the type of fishing you do, whether it be soaking bait, dragging lures, or throwing chicken feathers.

Believe it or not.....MILE HIGH FLEA MARKET. There are a couple of guys who are always out there and they are selling gear for 1/2 of what you would find it for at Sportsman's Warehouse.

That's an awesome idea except for the fact you have to goto the flea market... [ROFL1][Beer]

Very true......but if you have recently had anything stolen.....the Flea market is a great place to buy it back :)

Fishing stuff comes in various flavors, just like guns. It's not all created equal: there is Lorcin-level fishing gear and then there is the Noveske-level fishing gear.
A rod from BassPro/SwapMeet/flea market, is not going to be the same as the upper-tier fishing gear. Just because a rod has guides on it does not mean it's a good piece of equipment any more than a rifle having a metal barrel on it makes it a good rifle.
A very wide cross-section of fishing gear is sold on eBay for fairly competitive prices.
Tacklewarehouse.com is usually where I order my gear.

Ever gone to the little tackle store in Berthoud? The guy has alot of quality stuff....and if it sits around too long....he drastically cuts the prices. He's also a Muskie/Pike fanatic...which is pretty rare around here. Interesting place....worth visiting.
