I've read nothing but good reviews on the SGL 21's from Arsenal--apparently so did everyone else since they haven't been available for some time.
K-Var has the 21-61 back in stock--it has the Warsaw Pact stock length. I've not had the opportunity to handle these guns side by side with the different stock lengths. If anyone has and can comment on which one is sized for a normal American, (or any other reason one is better than the other) I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

The Warsaw stock was not shorter due to smaller people. It is a plus for their export market since it was handed out to many small peoples, but Russians are also a big people. Warsaw length is shorter so the rifle could be used with very large coats. I would suggest the Warsaw, but I like traditional Combloc stuff.

the smaller people thing is funny... besides winter coats the soviet doctrine of training is to face your target more when you shoot, if you face your target you can still advance easily while your rifle is shouldered as opposed to shouldering the rifle like you're davey crocket or something haha try holding an ak with a "nato" stock when you're shoulders are squared up on the stock and you'll think you have t-rex arms ;)
edit i'm 6'4 and have long arms and i still prefer combloc stocks

i figured they were all malnourished!
it seems the consensus on several other threads i dug up on other forums favor the warsaw over the NATO. i wish i could try them side by side, but nobody ever seems to have them.

If you have an ak tape a block of wood on the back of the stock lol

I have a Nato length K-var stock and I'm probably going to end up switching it out for the Warsaw length. If you get used to facing your target, the Warsaw length is the way to go.
For reference, I'm 6'2".

Facing your target makes lateral movement more fluid, soviet tactics involve lots of movement. (not saying western tactics don't involve some of the same things) also ak's are designed that you "climb into them". With a normal AK stock, face your target and get onto it with your nose to the top cover and you'll end up understanding why it is the way it is

I have Nato sized if you like to compare. Must wait until sun / Monday. Time for meds[LOL]
you can do a similar test with a 6pos on an AR. All the way out is NATO, one click out is warsaw.
Also 6' 4'' and I run all of my rifles warsaw length if i can.
Isn't there an intermediate length for people that just can't make up their mind.

Hahaha yeah it's called UN length that way no one is happy and the rifle is useless.
