While I live in Denver I was thinking it probably isn't a terrible idea to have some stuff ready to go if I have to head for wetter climates.

If I had to leave there is a pretty good possibility that I would come back to a hole in the ground so what would you guys pack that's light and easy to roll with?

I know most of the important stuff but gotta make sure I don't forget anything.

The rule of P's:
Photos
Prescriptions
Pets
Pet Food
and Personal firearms.

I add to that with hard drives, and my military awards and decorations- stuff that can't be replaced.

One of the TV news guys said this morning, it's the three P's for evacuations.
People,
Papers
Pets.
Guess those are among some of the MORE important items to haul out.

Oops, Ronin beat me to some of them while I was typing this post.

That makes sense since credit cards and bank accounts will still exist.

Thanks guys.

Anyone else in the Denver area prepping a bag just in case?

Does anybody want my pets? I hate dogs. My fish is going, because it doesn't stink, bark, or any other things.

Water for several days as well, especially with the fires like the waldo canyon fire where the reservoir is threatened.

I work for a food distribution company. Our restaurants in the Springs are getting hammered because the evacuated people have no water, food and no way to cook food. I think you need an easily loadable 3 day (minimum) supply of food and water and a means to cook it. Also think about shelter. From what I hear you can't get a hotel room in the area because of all the evacuees.

A safe deposit box inside the vault at your local bank (providing they have a decent vault), is fairly cheap insurance for important documents. While I agree with the many people that suggest grabbing passport/hard drives/documents when evacuating a fire, I don't have the courage to store those at home in the first place: the annual fee for the bank box is cheap.

Just be careful of what you store in the safe deposit box: there are rules about access to it when you pass away. And in a major SHTF scenario, you're probably not gonna be able to get in...
