View Full Version : Any of gun habits changed?
Been thinking about this for a bit and was wondering if any of your gun habits or purchases have changed recently?
For example, I was really never interested in commblock guns until I joined COAR-15, but I picked one up awhile ago because of some of the readings I did on this site. I also got back into reloading from some of the information that I was also able to get from the site.
Just wondering
Edit- obviously post should state have any of your gun habits changed?

Kinda. March 1 I had zero guns; now I have 7 and have sold three on top of that.
I've practically stopped shooting since I moved to Denver. I need to change that.

Yeah, I've been on a wheel gun kick lately, specifically S&W's, now I have my eye on a Python. I know they're over fuckin priced but I figure I'd overpay for one and take it to the grave with me, or give it to my son when I'm almost full senile and pissing myself. But about 10 years ago I didn't want them damn "old school" crap around my "new" shit.

Big time...
Long range rifles:
shooting from 100 yards to 400 yards (actually hitting the target) last year.
Now stretching it from 600 yards out to 1100 yards (actually hitting the target). I tried 1400 yards, but no luck hitting the target... I'm gonna work on that [Tooth]
I'm addicted to this type of shooting [Pepsi]
Assault rifles:
I'm down to a Krinkov [Muaha]
Pistols:
I've been through 9mm, 40 s&w, and now the .45 acp.
I'm sticking to the .45 acp for a while. Thanks to Sneakerd for showing me his ninja secrets... I can actually hit the target :D [Beer]
... this is all in 2 years time with firearms... and still a lot to learn on my end [Wiggle]

Primarily due to my budget, I've been into rimfires a lot lately.
I'm not so interested in buying more guns. I'm more interested in learning the ones I have and getting more ammo for them.

This has pretty much been my philosophy as of late.

I cut back my inventory to 3 different rounds. I had 8 different calibers going on at once, not too long ago. Much happier now, at least that is what I tell myself. :)
I've become disinterested in the AR as of late. Looks like MGT is having a sale on the 4th, maybe pick up an AK to give it a go. Worst case scenario, I turn around and sell it 2 months later at massively inflated prices.
Ever since I have been working at the college and helping out all of these guys with extremely expensive side by side's, and over under's, I find the need to get something decent, and make it very nice. I don't own a shotty currently and would have never even thought of picking one up that wasn't a pump of a sort, until now. [Beer]
I've been keeping my CC locked and cocked. I use to unchamber it when I set it in a safe place at home for whoever knows why but know I keep it ready all the time.
Need to get 45 acp and another xd or maybe xdm in comp series. Still looking for a 10/22 that is under retail on the site. Been looking into getting a 308 bolt action, never thought I would want one cause I can't shoot far to save my life....

I want more training.
I want more training.
Yup, another good place to spend hard earned cash.
Most of the things I do different as a result of this site are not actually gun related.
I want more training.
But this as well.
Yep.. I spend more money on guns and ammo..

Me too. I was shooting atleast 1x a week before we moved here 2 years ago. In 2 years, I've been shooting less than 10 times.
I sold off a few guns and haven't bought any (except a few lowers) .

Was into WWll rifles
Then .22 pistols
Now I want to match up American made single action pistols and same caliber American made lever actions.
Then... I guess we will see what come next?
I guess I have started that with antique and vintage Winchester rifles (I would like to find a nice 54)

Funny. I'll be two years this week. We should have a drink and compare notes. It was a good career move for me, but my shooting has suffered. I do very much appreciate the hunting opportunities here though. After not drawing a tag in 5 years in NM.
I've made three transactions thanks to this site, all 100% positive before the last oops.

I have purchased a few handguns over the past couple of years. I've gotten into the pistol competitions a bit as well. I would love to get to a class, but the work requirements have been getting in the way of my shooting fun. Also, due to my work related requirements, I got into shooting my AR more. I would love to take a training class or two, but I can't seem to catch a break in that respect.
I've been toying around with getting a .308 caliber rifle and seeing if I can get a hit out at 1k meters. I'm afraid that once I did that, I'd get bored with it and then just have a $5k paperweight in the safe. I think instead, I'll try and get out to 1k meters with one of the rifles I already have. I've got a few calibers to choose from.
It's that whole, "Want what you've got" type of dilemma.
