Do you guys carry FMJ in your 380 guns when you ccw? From what I gather it's better to just use FMJ to get maxium penetration. The only JHP Worth anything from my research is the Ranger T 380 and From what I get it only opens up half the time and dosent penetrate much. What do you guys say???

Federal Hydra-Shok JHP. You need to see what functions reliably in your pistol before carrying any brand or style of ammunition, what works in mine or the next guy's pistol may not function in yours.

Gold Dots for me.. They work consistently in my LCP.

This subject seems to come up in a new thread every 6 months or so. [Muaha]

My research is over a year old now but CorBon DPX was what I found to be your best bet in a .380. It had better penetration and expansion in bare gelatin and through layers of denim than any other round. Ranger T series is the best in the larger calibers but the CorBon won the .380 catagory.

I have been carrying my lcp for approx a year now and have 300rds down the pipe. It has ate every thing and never has had a jam yet. I have been carrying fmj after doing some research on 380 ammo. I just got a box of the cor- bon dpx and will try that out maybe that will be my new carry ammo. One thing 380 ammo is ridiculously expensive now.

I'm not sure how these are expansion wise but I know my LCP eats Hornady Critical Deffense just fine.

These lil boogers right here!! By far the best... Watched many review on the others and found these have the best expansion, penetration and cavity. And don't need to worry about the tip clogging and not opening.

I never cared for .380 and thought they were a weak round. I watched the ballistic jell test on this and the 9mm, very comparable.

+1 for Cor-Bon DPX. This came to the front after my reading and it functions in my Body Guard 380 flawlessly.

PS - I use DPX in my Kimber 45 as well.

I always preferred the Remington Golden Saber as a good compromise between reliability and expansion. CorBon DPX is great and expands explosively but penetration is not very good and it does not feed in all pistols reliably.

Be advised that you are not supposed to run +P in the subcompact polymer pistols like the LCP, P3AT, Bodyguard, and similar. They probably will not kaboom, but they will wear the gun out very quickly, and Ruger specifically says no +P in the LCP. Kel Tec doesn't care because they know it'll probably be sent back for repairs regardless.
