View Full Version : Romney considering female running mate

The main stream media is reporting Ann Romney as saying that Mitt is considering a female running mate. My deitylike powers of deduction hint that if this is the case, it's probably Michele Bachmann. My question is, in light of what happened with Sarah Palin, would this be a good or bad decision on Mitt's part?

Please discuss.

If he chooses Bachmann, that will be the last nail in the coffin.

Which might be a good thing because then Obama will win and we can hopefully begin reconstruction within our lifetimes.

Suicide. The right is desperate to be next on the "all new" bandwagon and put a woman in office since putting a black guy in office has "already been done". I love Bachmann, but she was already crucified in the media and really she's the only woman that might appeal to voters. Romney, like McCain, has weak support from true conservatives, this is just a ploy to them saying "see, here is your true conservative".

Except that "within our lifetimes" will become months instead of years. Anyone that thinks revolution is somehow going to be bloodless is talkin' foolishness. If the same percentage of the population dies in the next civil war that died in the first one that will be 9.1 MILLION people.

Lots of assumptions being made here, but that is okay.

People die whether or not there is a revolution. I'd rather die doing something worth while than rotting away.

Well, I assume that unless Romney stops playing the Kerry flip flop game that we'll have another 4 years of Obama. He blows like the wind and no running mate is going to fix that, so he needs to get his head in the game, stop screwing around, pick a strong conservative WHITE MAN running mate and get to winning. And, no, I'm neither racist nor sexist, but many are and we don't need anything to hurt us (or in the case of Cain/Palin, screw us over royally).

Does no one here understand how a presidential election works? I don't mean to dig on you guys in anyway- I think the same way as you and support the same beliefs, but damn, some of you aren't really getting it, are you? There are three sides to each election, there's the right, the left, and the middle. The right is usually expected to vote right, the left is usually expected to vote left, and the middle is undecided and that is who the other two sides have to fight for. Romney needs to figure out a way, be it by promises and policy, or by a running mate, to get the most undecided "middle" votes to win. That's it! You can say "he's already pissed off the far right" but he doesn't need them as badly as he needs the- what is the figure now? 40%- middle votes to sway in his favor. He can't please everyone, hell he can't be expected to please all of the people in his own party, but he doesn't need to, he just need to convince those in the middle to choose him instead of Obama. And goddammit we need those people to not vote for Obama!

Not gonna speculate on this. But I'd bet there are other female candidates ahead of Bachmann on Romney's "female VP" short list.

Condi Rice or Susan Martinez would be a couple of my guesses. But I'd also think after the McCain/Palin fiasco he'd be a little gunshy on picking a woman.

I'd like to see him pick Condoleezza Rice, but doubt she's interested. I think that would do his ticket some good, and I like her.

If he picks a real constitutional conservative who doesn't believe in legislating morality I will hold my nose and vote for him. If he chooses a progressive running mate, I may as well vote for Obama.

So, I guess there is a way that I would vote for him.

IMO he is more valuable in congress and would be a waste of talent as a VP

+1. He is making a difference in Congress and getting valuable knowledge and experience as a politician. The VP position doesn't do much, although the rest of America just sees the names on the ticket. I don't want to see West as a running mate, I want to see him as the President.

The fiasco part of McCain/Palin wasn't the woman.

And no, I seriously doubt that Romney is considering Bachmann (who would likely tell him to stuff it if he asked her anyway) ... some serious acrimony there.

exactly. the guys who think a civil war would be good are delusional.

there arent many family farms around. most food is produced by large multinational corporations. if the food chain is somehow, slowed, destroyed or anything bad, people will starve, by the millions. there isnt anything in place, to produce the food locally in most cases. they can produce select items in certain parts of the country.

most of the population couldnt go for a couple weeks on the food they have stored. what if it took years to restore order, rebuild farms and factories? i doubt anyone here could hold out that long.

if medications are cut off, people will die. there will be rampant infections and disease.

if electricity and natural gas are cut off people will die.

if there is a revolution there will be alot of blood shed.

people died in the civil war by the tons, for things that can be taken care of at modern hospitals. if we have no hospital services, it will be the same again.

if you are prepared for it, you will probably still die. you cant hold out forever, and someone with less to live for and no morals with kill you for it.

we dont want a revolution. well, people who dont want to see massive death and destruction, dont want a revolution.

i know its cool to be a hard ass on the internet.

All the reasons why I pray it will never happen and am seriously afraid that the country is being pushed into one...I really would not like to see something like that. I enjoy air conditioning and fast food and not getting shot at regularly.

I saw a documentary on Netflix not too long ago and it showed how the media was so ruthless in going after Palin. 90% of all the bad things said about her were false and skewed to make her look bad. She's actually really quite smart and did a lot to fix Alaska (which was more messed up that I knew before she got elected). She seriously could have the potential to make a great 1st woman POTUS one day, but thanks to the damn liberal media her image is pretty well tarnished... "I can see Russia from my house." [Bang]

In that, what she really said was "Russia is our neighbor, there are some points in Alaska that the distance is only a few miles and you can actually see Russia from some parts of Alaska."
