View Full Version : 308 neck issue
Reloading some 308 brass with mixed head stamps, popped the primers and when I check the brass with a projectile the heck is still too big, this is only happening to some of the brass pieces and wondering if I am doing something wrong when I am resizing them.
Still kinda new to reloading and wondering what I am doing wrong with them.
This brass is only been shot once if that helps.
Need to use a full length resizer.
Use a full length re-sizer. When you are threading in the die put your throw arm all the way down pushing the ram to the top. Then thread the die in until it just about touches the shell holder on the ram. That way you are driving the shell all the way into the die utilizing the full sizing potential. Also use a lot of case lube or deal with the wrath of a stuck case similar to the thread that I am just starting now. Dammit.
You might not be sizing it enough.
The bottom of the die and the shell holder should almost touch.

You may also be mixing your unsized and sized & hopefully trimmed brass, or possible short stroking when sizing ( no pun intended ), run it the full stroke length.
