A friend of mine bought some ammo from Dad's Wholesale. Says it goes BOOM when it is supposed to. It's once-fired reloads. I've seen them at the fun shows. They seem to have pretty good prices. Anybody have any experience with them? They are in Denver.

Thanks,

I've been buying from them for a little more then a year (45ACP and now 223) I get the occasional case that is ugly but as the last box of 500 actually counted out to 510-514 or so who cares. It all goes where you point it, no misfires or problems. It's accurate enough, not match grade, but seems consistent. Not excessively dirty, doesn't smell real bad. And the lady that runs the booth is just smart alec enough to appeal to my warped nature. Nice folks, good product. Saturday it was $94 including tax for 500 rounds 55g FMJ. [postal] [postal]

Got their card at the Tanner last weekend.

Be sure to call and check when they are open as I think she said they are only open 3 days a week limited hours.

Tell them Jim sent you!
(They really don't know me that well, but what the heck!)

The owner lives somewhere around Parker. I've bought a few boxes of shells from him for my XD 357 SIG. They do go bang and were a good price for 250 rnds. I shot a few through the crono graph and they were not full power loads compared to WWB or Federal. Good to know about where they are reloading them for PSI and vel.

My dept used his ammo for practice ammo on the police qualifications!I've purchased ammo from him for many years.

He is a reputable dealer and honest!

Is Dad's Wholesale also a good place to get primers? I've looked around a few places on the net and the hazmat cost seems kinda steep.

Thanks,

I've bought stuff from him on and off for years, got an occasional deal, and I have NEVER bought a reload from him that wasn't high quality. Come to think of it, that makes him pretty unique in the Denver area. I get my reloading supplies in bulk when a friend makes an interstate run, so I wouldn't know about prices on components - but what I have bought on occasion is fair and consistent.

That 94.00 (assuming brass cased reloads) per 500rds is pretty slick. Even with loading myself, if I have the brass my cost is .17c per round (85.00 per 500) and if I have to buy brass (not really) then its .23c per round (115 per 500). If I was able to afford bulk purchases (5000-10000rds per order) I could shave .02-.04c per round off. But times are tough. :)
