Has anyone put an AR Ambi safety on their M&P 15-22s ?
I have been reading up on this and it seems that the lower on the M&P 15-22 is a tad wider than a AR lower.
The only one that did work was from one of the high end parts manufacturers, $60+ in price.
The other option is to purchase a two piece setup, trash the left side piece, take a dremel tool and cut a slot in the existing M&P 15-22 safety, drill and tap a hole in the slot, and use the right side piece & screw from the two piece Ambi safety.
Has anyone found or done anything different to get an Ambi safety on a M&P 15-22 ?
It sure sucks sometimes being a southpaw when it comes to rifles.

The factory safety can be flipped for lefties.

I'm a lefty myself, but I've always just used right hand firearms and made adjustments to be able to shoot with them.

I would like it to have an Ambi, so if I can get the wife out to learn to shoot, it will match all my ARs with Ambies.

Maybe BP or Robb have done one by now-give them a call. I've done the same thing with my rifles except my 15-22. Good question.[Beer]

I know this is an old thread but there is a lot of new info on the M&P 15-22 that isn't on our site but is on a lot of other sites. Rather than start a new thread this info fits with the OP's question

Battle Arms Development makes a specific ambi-selector for the 15-22.

The Norgon Ambi-Catch fits perfect for the 15-22.

KNS Precision Inc. now makes the Non-Rotate Trigger/Hammer Pins in both MOD 2 and original versions.

A few companies now make an upgraded charging handle, the one i got is the NDZ Performance, which has a lot of good rievews, the other is Plinker Tactical. Both of these companies make several parts for the 15-22.

Hope this info can help our members out, let me know if you have any questions.

I just picked up my first M&P 15-22 today, and while I still haven't shot it I'm very impressed! Something tells me this will quickly become one of my favorite purchases. [UZI]

I love mine. No ambi safety but, lots of parts inter change. I have a spikes battle trigger, vltor hand guard with a full floated barrel, kns trigger pins and a barrel shroud. Most recently shot a steel challenge with it and did great. It really likes the Winchester m-22 ammo.

Thats a great looking gun! I like the handguards, did you have to make any serious changes/mods to get them to fit?

I would like to know as well. I really want to remove the stock hand guards and install the MOE one form magpul, just to make it look and feel like my 5.56 for training reasons.

One of these allows you to mount a normal handguard.
