How likely is it that the U.N. ATT is ratified?

I've been reading articles going both ways lately, saying that the ATT has no chance of being ratified, and others that suggest that it has strong, passionate support. If I recall correctly, any treaty is supposed to be ratified by the senate, but is there any way that Obama could pull some executive order BS with this or something, like he loves to do? I know these anti-gunners who have been working on this for years have to have some kind of plan to actually make it a reality. Thoughts?

No an executive order cannot bypass Constitutionally mandated senate ratification.

And no, they won't ratify it. Ever since the 1994 AWB led to the Dems getting slaughtered in the following elections, sweeping gun control has been a known dead end for political careers. And that is all they really care about.

The thing that worries me is that surely the ones calling for this know that it is political suicide and almost impossible to ram through the senate. So why are they still trying? I just reeaalllyyy hope that this doesn't happen. I don't want to die for my guns, but I damn sure will die for my constitution and my freedom.

Too many people with too many guns would not cooperate, including a TON of law enforcement and most of the military.

I think the only thing that could make it happen would be another 9/11 type incident done with assault weapons in the US.

There are blue state Dems and purple/swing state ones. The swing state ones wouldn't go close to this since it would be suicide.

The Republicans have been pretty effective in the Senate with filibuster threats. This would scare enough Dems that I doubt that they could get a simple majority and certainly not enough for cloture.
