So this last trip of shooting I forget to bring tools to assemble my homemade target stand to hang up some steel gongs. Needless to say, without the right tools my stand fell after a few hits. Which got me thinking about something a little quicker to assemble and with minimal tools in case I do forget to bring tools again. I'd like get some ideas for DIY target stands, but I like seeing what everyone else comes up with. So without further ado, let's see what you guys bring for targets!

I recycle yard signs... There seems to be a never ending supply, especially in Aurora...

Roofing, plumbing, cash for gold and my personal favorites...

+1, except when your buddies think it's cute to shoot your stands. Bastards! [ROFL1]

I made these with the help of my Dad a couple of weeks ago.

They are 5' tall with a target area opening of 2'x3' and the removable base is 2'x2'. Each stand uses 3.5 pieces of 2"x4" (8' length).

That's awesome! I've shot a few when they are available and they are light and easy to stick in the ground.

I thought of this alternative to clay disc. Why not pistons painted yellow? You get several to many shots depends how you dig them in before they roll out and you have to reset them.

I built my own and have 4 that can take lath and IPSC targets along with 8 Steel 6" plates and 2 8" plates that hang. Couple that with a few "Pigeons on a stick" and you have your own course. I do need to make some stands for the plates and a few more things but I have enough to make a 20 shot or so course. [Coffee]

PVC Pipe, 1x2's, Sand in the PVC pipe, plugged with some circles of wood/liquid nails.

Used it a few times without issues.

I like spongejosh and hbar's setups. I made a bunch of PVC target stands kinda like Gnihcraes, but not as pretty. Also made a stand to hold a plate, and one to hold a spinner. I've started using tubular webbing instead of chain to suspend the plate, and it's lasting longer. Finally, I welded a piece of angle iron onto the back of a 6" piece of steel, and I slide a kern-mantle rope through it, and can suspend it between two trees. They're some of the uglier setups here, but they work for me.

Preemptive dsclaimers: I know my welds are ugly! And no, all the holes in the stands are not from me; they're the price I pay for letting newbies shoot my targets, and it's worth it!

2 pieces rebar, 2 lengths electrical conduit, big cardboard zip-strapped around conduit. Pound rebar into the ground and slide conduit over.--

I like how simple a lot of these are for steel. Which is good I hate packing the stuff into my car sometimes.
