On several other gun boards I have noticed that people in other states seem to pay lower transfer fees than what I have seen in the Denver area. It seems like the going rate to transfer an suppressor a suppressor from out of state is about $50 (with some dealers in Texas charging $20  ). It also seems like many dealers do not charge a transfer fee if you buy the can from them especially if you pay full retail. My first suppressor was an Norrell Integral 10/22 suppressor which I paid $150 to transferred to me. What have been you guys experiences with this?

Call Alan he charges 0$ if you buy it from him, problem solved.
He did charge me $150 for the transfer of my sear (I did not buy it from him). However I have purchased 3 more NFA items from him and it cost me nothing. So in the end if I used a C3 dealer that charges for every damn transfer I would have spent more money.
It's simple he has to make a living and anybody in the C3 world should know it is not easy it is a very small market.
The predator can I bought from Alan he charged me $150 I found it on line for $120. If you do the math I don't care what dealer you use the $30 dollar difference would never amount to the transfer fees another dealer would have charged me.
That is just my .02

It varies a lot from dealer to dealer as you've already seen. I got my registered UZI bolt through Dragon for $75.00 back in 1994ish. I got both of my silencers for $50.00 from Dragon. All 3 items were items I found, bought, and arranged for on my own. Terri told me if I bought any items through her that she didn't charge a transfer fee. Well, that's the norm anyway. It was my experience at the time that she was willing to go a little cheaper than most because she wasn't really trying to make a living off guns and such. It was just extra income generated by a license she already had anyway.
I checked prices and transfer fees through a few distributors and dealers and found that it was usually cheaper to just buy the item from the local dealer if they were willing to do that. They get a discount from most distributors/manufacturers that makes up for not charging a transfer fee. If you buy direct, and then add a transfer fee, that's going to cost quite a bit more in all cases. Unless the seller is willing to give you that same discount
Karl.

I know a guy on SilencerTalk.com that is selling AAC Blockboxes for $795, retail on them is $1K. If I were to buy one from a local dealer I would be looking at about $1133 with sales tax and transfer fee. Where it seems like everyone outside of Colorado would be looking at $845, a $288 difference.
I know a C3 license is not free and it should be worth these guys time and I can understand $75-$100 but I think $150 is excessive.

Ask Alan what he would sell you one for he has never charged me retail on anything I have bought from him. The part that will get you is sales tax but it can't hurt to ask him.
Not to mention even if you bought the can for $795 from the guy on silencertests and paid a $150 transfer fee that is only $945 so how did you come up with $1133????

If I bought the can from an in-state dealer for retail and sales tax.
I have never met Alan but have talked to him a couple of times and he seems like a great guy. Maybe I should start doing transfers through him but it is a bit of a drive. Do you know who his examiner is?

ATF are like a bunch of monkeys F'ing a football it keeps changing. We talked about it at the FT Morgan MG shoot this weekened. Every time he turns around he has a new examiner. My last transfer from him was William Shipman.

FROM Boulder !!! i drive to alans from windsor no excuse
as hunterco mentioned if you buy from alan (NEW) he does not charge you any transfer fees. if it's something you found out of state then yes he wil charge you for his time/paperwork (gots to make a living)
all he has charged me is coast of NFA item and sales tax. of course theres the atf'sd $200.00
i'd like to do some NFA business with jensens ,as i have been buying from them since bob's hole in the wall ,on the one way in loveland.
HOWEVER
cracking off with another $100-150.00 average transfer fee for new NFA items doesn't go over well with me. when everyone else in the state does not charge you. that extra cost is my tax stamp money.
and with 3 soon to be 4 stamps that add's up.
