View Full Version : How often are you flipped off while driving?
I have noticed I get flipped off every day now that I have been driving the I25 metro area and hw36 alot recently. Its not because I'm being a douche, or driving 20 below the limit/20 above the limit, but more because someone is trying to drive like jeff gordon in his lane, my area, and the lane next to me all at the same time, then gets mad that I'm "in their way from performing the most awesome risky pass ever to go up in traffic 50 feet." this results in the bird for inconveniencing them i guess.
the finger has lost all meaning now. any little pencil neck emo or obese slob can throw it out and feel like a tough guy. really grinds my gears.

I have received the finger in the state of CO more than any other place I have lived. For me it is moslty from the dumbasses driving 10 mph below the speed limit in the left lane. They like to flick me off as I pass them on the right.

I got the bird and a "jerking" motion after honking at a guy yesterday as I was driving home on I25. This guy deliberately cut me off and would have hit my vehicle if I hadn't hit the breaks (that misspelling is for you, spyder).
I've been flipped off once. And it was by a guy who was driving like an ass until I forced him down an exit ramp on 225 :)

Nice! These idiots are not worth the effort to me anymore, so I let it go.
Just yesterday, matter of fact!

I surprisingly don't get any craziness while I'm driving. I figure I would I drive a bit more aggressively then the average driver, but not to the point where I'm cutting lanes 6" from another car's bumper.

when i was younger i was a bit more aggressive then i am now. I find that now i get flipped off by more young whipper snappers for being polite on the road. its frustrating. apparently every high school punk in their mom's audi is running late to their mcdonalds shift

As I've aged I drive a bit slower. (Too many speeding tickets.) I also generally let people on and off the road. That doesn't apply to letting someone getting left. They can speed up to merge and fit into traffic so I do get a few birds there.
The absolute worst road for uncivilized behavior is I-225. I don't take it often but almost every time I do I see road rage and just plain aggressively bad driving. I'm not talking brain dead road hogs but people getting into confrontations. It's the only place I've dialed *CSP.

I live a mile from work and walk or ride my bike. Carefully planned it that way because I hate driving here more than any state I have lived.

I never get the finger. It's more than likely you.
The other day I say a girl on Colorado Blvd get out of her car at a red light and punch another girl who apparently cut her off. I've seen that happen in Cherry Creek too. Always young girls driving nice cars too.
I never get the finger. It's more than likely you.
not sure how you draw that conclusion. nope its not the punk asses driving 95 mphs down 36 from boulder to denver that are the problem. its me. heres your sign
I am more likely to flip people off and very rarely receive the bird myself.
Some days I make so many birds appear I feel like a magician.

The only time I really drive in the metro area is when I'm working. And when I'm driving the propane truck people generally don't f**k with me.

It's funny how more people are afraid of propane than gasoline. Like at any moment its just gonna explode.

I know. I've learned to use that to my advantage. Wanna change lanes? No problem. Just turn on the signal and start to move over. People are almost as polite to me in the propane truck as they are when I drove a patrol car.
Geez, since I got here I haven't been flipped off yet.
I think in New York it's done more than using a turn signal.

I always try to not only yield, but help out a truck. Some guy trying to make a living on the road deserves a little extra space to get where he's going! Same reason I shovel a path to my mailbox, my mail lady loves me.
Somebody flips you off, just blow 'em a kiss. Blows their minds.

Where were you when I was driving truck? That for sure is not the norm.

and some of you wonder why there are people that REFUSE to live/work in the metro area...
This is rare in Colorado Springs, and even more rare in rural areas...
The worst thing about making a deal in the metro area is DRIVING to the metro area... y'all can HAVE it!

Ditto!
I block traffic for trucks also.

Me too. It's nice to interact with other drivers on the road that understand when you flash your lights to let them in, you're telling them they have enough room, not that you're picking a fight.
I don't get the finger often, my I give several probably every drive. Any obama or coexist sticker receives the finger.

What he said. I avoid driving near Aurora like some of you avoid driving near downtown Denver.

It's the person who is talking on the phone, or looking at papers, doing forty on the highway, I honk at them as to say pay attention. Here comes the finger. Or the ones who do thirty on a quarter mile long on ramp, then merge, making everyone slow down, and as soon as they merge they speed up. Then here comes my finger. I don't know if people are just stupid or no common courtesy.[Bang]

Most people possess only the most basic driving skills. They're generally able to get from point A to point B without hurting themselves or someone else or causing any damage.
Don't ask for, or expect, anything beyond that. Most of them can't comprehend the concept of looking beyond the end of their hood and anticipating what they might need to do in the next few seconds.
I don't know if people are just stupid or no common courtesy.
Ummm...both?
You guys should try living in Chicago for over 30 years. You aint never seen so many birds.
I'm numb to it now I dont even notice it.

I commuted to NYC, and through NYC for years. This place is downright tame compared. However I get flipped off for my own driving, as I drive a fast car fast.

About two weeks ago I was driving down countyline road towards 25 going east in the number one lane. There are numerous signes that say no U turn. However someone decided to block the lane and wait until there was enough room to make the U turn. Since there was traffic all around me I staying in the number one lane and proceeded to honk my horn for nearly 30 seconds (not an exaggeration) before the person finally made the U turn and flipped me off, like i'm the a-hole causing traffic problems.
I have been flipped off more in Douglas and South Arapahoe Counties than anywhere else. Every young white guy apparently is a tough guy.

yup , im #1 for driving the speed limit and not 10-20 over and no i dont hog up the left lane
Got it this morning on my way to work! Merging off of 6th Ave onto I-70WB speeding up to 65 to merge when the two cars (one a utility truck) began making their move into the C-470 exit lanes while I had no clear path to merge onto the I-70 lanes. Jeep behind me that just got out of the 70 lane into my lane (the left C-470 exit lane) had to slam on his brakes as I was getting cut off and take the right lane and flip me the bird... MY fault huh? ,|,, back atcha!
Maybe carry a crossbow?
