Remote switches on weapon lights

Again--my standard disclaimer--i'm not an operator, law enforcement, whatever, just a guy that wants to protect his family.

I've seen remote switches for weapon lights advertised. 4-7's flashlights says theirs are tested to work 100,000 cycles.

Anyone out there using them? don't like them? do like them?

No need to move your hand to manipulate your light... not a bad thing.
Is it something you really need to have to effectively operate your weapon? Probably not.

what's the light going to be mounted on? On my AR, I have a surefire scout on a large offset mount. I use a push button tail cap because I don't like having cables dangling or risk getting them snagged. Plus, I can take my light off quickly and run a little more "slick" or have a nice handheld flashlight without a cable/tape switch to deal with.

On the pistol, I have a tlr-1 with just the standard toggle.

On the 870, I have a m3x with the long gun back plate and a tape switch. The switch is mounted on the 6 o'clock on a tri-rail forearm. I use a vertical grip as a handstop and like the switch position because I can just apply pressure with my index finger to activate. Backplate has the option of; OFF, MOMENTARY(tape switch activation), or ON (constant).

I don't like tape switches for lights (either for pistols or rifles). I need my white lights to require a positive action to activate them and another positive action to deactivate them. The chances of a white light ND are too high with tape switches.

My thought process goes something like this; If I'm at home, I know the ground better than an attacker. Therefore darkness is my friend. If I'm at work, I'm part of a small element and announcing our position with a blast of white light might get some people killed. Therefore darkness is my friend. If I decide I want a white light (target ID, site exploitation, etc) I can click it on and it stays on if I have to take my support hand off the rifle and do something with it (control a non-threat, open/close a door, etc.). Pressure switches for white lights don't fit my needs.

My past builds have just had my Phenix light on a rail mount right near my grip...so its really comfortable to get a thumb on it and manipulate it.

Have to agree with JoeyShoe, not a fan of danging lines that can get caught on things or come disconnected and fail to engage.
