ROMNEY NARROWS VP CHOICES; CONDI EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER
Thu Jul 12 2012 19:30:01 ET
**Exclusive**
Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.
And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!
The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.
MORE
It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney's Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.
Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.
In recent days, she emailed supporters:
"2012 is perhaps a turning point for the United States."
"The upcoming elections loom as one of the most important in my lifetime," she warned. "I'm very often asked to speak about our current foreign policy and the challenges that lie before us. However, we, as a country, are not going to be able to address any of those international challenges unless we first get our domestic house in order."
Developing...
I'll have to brush up on Rice...I don't remember too much about her. From what I know, I'd be OK with her as veep. Worth looking in to.

I always thought she was a really bright, well-spoken lady, and I'd like to see her on the ticket.
Would be one of the smartest things the Republicans have ever done. So therefore it won't happen.

Colin Powell presidential candidate, or even VP, would be one of the smartest things Republicans could do.
Alen West would be *the* smartest thing... Right behind dropping all the religious baggage.

Colin (I voted for Obama) Powell. Yeah right......

A Black female Republican. White guilt voters don't have that much guilt.
Besides I don't think she's black enough by NAACP standards.

Colon Powell backed barack hussein jr..... he can leave the party

I like Condi, but she has never been in a position to express her personal political views. If I remember correctly she is pretty moderate with a lot of democrat friends. While the black vote is largely lost, the right needs serious help with the female vote, this would help. Might even draw enough NFL vote.

Its a moot point ... she doesn't want the job and has flatly refused it in public before.
Also, she's not a conservative ... she's a pragmatist and a technocrat. I suspect she's no better than Colon Powell (except that she's been smart enough to keep her mouth shut).
There was a good article on Brietbart (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/07/13/think-twice-about-picking-condi) about this today.
Romney needs to pick a solid conservative/constitutionalist/Tea Party ideologue as a running mate. Someone like Alan West (but maybe not Alan West as he's got work to do in the House).

If only you put as much effort into other things as you do into "creative" name calling.
As if McCain/Palin was a better choice. The GOP had thrown Powell under the bus during the Bush Jr. years.
I think she'd be a wise strategic choice, as would Allen West, or Marco Rubio. I'd personally take West over Rubio, and Rubio over Rice, but any of them over Powell.

I liked Powell, right up to the point where he announced he voted color over country.
Eff him.
Mittens need a fierce conservative to get the hardcore conservatives in his camp. I don't feel Rice would be a good choice from that point.
I am also skeptical of a black VP choice.
Unfortunately with the racial division that BHO has cultivated I doubt we will see another black elected to a high office for quite a while.
Too bad, West would be a great VP.

He already did, when he resigned from the Bush administration, he effectively announced he was a damnocrat.

THIS! Voting for someone based solely on color instead of principal is evidence enough to be evicted from the nation and turn in your citizenship! [Mad]

God you're dumb.
He resigned because he opposed the war in Iraq, and then opposed the anemic force that was sent. He also resigned because Bush paraded him infront of the UN and forced him to read some made up bullshit about why we were going to war with Iraq.
The Bush administration effectively threw him under the bus with that one.
Powell is the reason we went to Afghanistan so quickly and started breaking up al Qaeda and the Taliban. Who knows what would have happened had we been mired in Iraq and let al Qaeda and the Taliban alone.

We just keep butting heads... your reading comprehension sucks (do you work for Olympic Arms?)! I never stated anything about his resignation other than he pretty much had been democrat ever since, and I'm fully aware what the Bush admin. did to him and effectively his career... [Bang]
Seriously, the insults, I'm getting pretty tired of them... your name is fitting though.
