Yawn, right, yea, so there is no Colorado delegation hitting our own senators not to support this? Yawn.....
No Colorado gun groups are pushing to call and email them until it hurts? Udall probably won't support, but I wouldn't count on it...yawn.

I think something like 58 senators signed a letter that they won't support the treaty, so it shouldn't pass. It could have big impacts on the availability of surplus arms and ammo though if many other countries move to adopt.

Kiss any foreign made firearm good bye if we sign in.
The treaty may not get ratified in the Senate but we have no way of knowing which parts may be considered an "Agreement".
An Agreement does not have to be voted upon and does not carry the same weight as a Treaty.
But it certainly may have serious ramifications.

I would imagine that many countries would destroy them not export them. They don't want to move the guns around they want to get rid of them.
Anyone know when it would go into effect?

US out of the UN
O darn, you mean we might have to buy USA............ That would really suck wouldn't it. Imagine American manufactures supplying the US armed forces and Americans with guns made by the sweat of US citizens.....
Yah! Lets let the Government dictate what we can buy. Its also gun registration, and then, as in New York, Confiscation. Yay, who needs ANY of those dangerous weapons?[Stooge] Weapons are racist anyway. Your much safer without guns!

Check out Dick Morris' site for an interesting video on this. In fact, the senate does not need to vote on it in order for it to go into effect! Because of a previous UN agreement (Vienna...?), it is treated as law until either the senate votes on it or the president renounces it - neither of which are going to happen while Beeho is in office. Just amazing how our politicians have gotten voters out of the way and have given themselves the power to get something like this approved.

Unless one of us is missing something, I got multiple emails from RMGO, the NRA, and the C4L (Campaign For Liberty) in the past week about it.
Either way, don't waste your energy on this. Spend all the political energy you can muster getting everyone you know and everyone you can think of to vote for Romney. More than anything else, we MUST get Obama out of office or we're in for a hell of a wild ride...
US out of the UN
THIS! I've been saying it for years, nothing but bad news... Can't stand the UN and they no longer serve any real logical, positive purpose (need examples see Rwanda, Darfur, Somalia, etc.). As an American, if this passes and is allowed by our government I will stand up and refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of UN rules in the United States.

Are you freakin' serious? I haven't heard about this. I am so sick of the feds stealing power. This is the exact thing that our country was formed to escape!
Some interesting opinions on the small arms treaty here

They are like 3 votes away in the Senate on this, anyone up for a MASS CALL IN to Senators? not just ours.

Y'all realize the survey shown is from 1994? I am sure if such a thing was being solicited now we would have heard/seen it.
The recent events concern me greatly, this type of incident is a perfect catalyst to swing fence sitters.
Makes one wonder about a "Red Herring/False Flag" scenario.......

Doubting they'll pass this if they didn't pass the Open Sea Treaty. Even so if they do its time we take a fucking stand then comply.

The current form of the UN Gun Treaty has rules that would require nations exporting guns to follow them to the end user...if Beretta sells a gun in the USA they will be required to keep record the "end user"...you.
In other words, even if the USA doesn't sign the Treaty, Beretta for example won't be able to sell guns in the USA because we won't provide them end user records. We sign = international gun registry. We don't sign, other nations will = no more foreign made arms. We are screwed either way.
Say goodbye to some if not all of the models made by Beretta, Benelli, Glock, Sig, HK, Savage, Sako, Taurus, etc, etc, etc.
On top of that, they are trying to include parts, ammo and components in the Treaty.
I love American made firearms as much as the next guy, but some of the best guns are also made in foreign nations.
The attempts by the UN at an international registry is nothing new and has included small arms in the past. Although it stopped short of tracking to the end user and wasn't mandatory. Here's info about the existing register.

And attempts at tracing small arms

We have been fighting new US anti-gun laws for the last 2 decades while they have quietly been working to control them internationally. The anti-gunners are good at what they do...I think they have a jump on us. Scary times ladies and gentlemen.

Bet you see these companies move to the US or open separate US divisions ... most of those companies can't live off of government contracts alone, they need the huge firearms market here in the US. Most of those countries already have some limited production going on in the US.
At any rate, I don't think the Senate is ever going to see the treaty ... I think Barry is going to try to pull a fast one by not sending it to the Senate since according to the Vienna Convention the instant it's signed it is in force (with the force of a constitutional amendment) UNTIL it's rejected by the Senate or renounced by the President. So if the Senate never hears it and the president never renounces it he just got the UN to repeal our Second Amendment.
So again, for the umpteenth time ... if Obama is re-elected, America is over. Period.
Also the only long term solution is the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US. Frankly once the UN is gone the building in NYC should be leveled, the ground left bare and salted so that nothing ever grows or is built there again.
