The club has sent out a request for target frames. I just got done making 10 of them, anybody else here planning on making some? They're very easy, just a little time-consuming. Wtih three standard 2x4's, you can make two frames and only have 6" of scrap. I made 10, and have about $48 in lumber and screws, which the club will reimburse you for if you ask.

We have what, 1000 members? If each member made 10, that would be 10,000 frames, which of course is unrealistic. but if only 1% of the members, or 100 guys, made 10, that would be 1,000 frames! Which would still be a storage problem.

So, get off yer duffs and make a few! Be one of the 1%, willya?

Oh, and PLEASE don't blast the damn frames intentionally! Not saying anyone here does, but it's hard to believe that people will pay for memberships there, and drive all the way out there, and still be retarded enough to walk up to the target frames and blow 'em apart with shotguns. How fuckin' ignorant can people be? If every member made a few of them, maybe that would put a stop to that nonsense.

See, very simple. Two pieces 48", one 24", and one 21". Screw together, deliver to Bill at the range. I'm sure they'd also appreciate donations of large pieces of heavy cardboard too, to put on the frames for stapling targets to. You could even cut them into 24" squares if you'd be so kind!

Many thanks!

Ron

Oh, I recommend you make 3 or 4 extra for yourself, and bring your own frame or two with you when you go out there. That way you're sure to have one or two in good shape to use. I always take my own, but I still make some for donations.

Oh well, so I'm a mathtard.....point is, if just a few guys would make 10 of them, we'd have plenty for quite awhile. 10 guys making 10 would be 100 frames, which is still a lot.

So, if you're a member, make some up! They'll knock down your work bond considerably too.

I am 29th on the waitlist. I wouldn't mind building some when I become a member. Until then I will just keep building my personal frames.

Have a call into Bill on what I need to do to build some. The daughter is even going to help which is good since she has hit a frame or two. But she is only 10 and just learning so I will give her a break.

Well I could build some, but your going to have to take me out there to drop them off since I'm not a member.....might as well do some shooting while there....[Coffee]

See, very simple. Two pieces 48", one 24", and one 21". Screw together, deliver to Bill at the range. The square part at the top is 24"x24".

I make 'em 48" tall (well, 49-1/2" counting that piece across the top). That way, you can take three 2x4 studs and make two frames, with only 6" of scrap. The shorter frames stand up to the wind better, they're closer to the shooting height from the benches, and the bullets go into the berms straighter, instead of upwards at an angle. The club has all those 24" wide steel bases, and these will fit right into them. The 2x4's will stand up to more bullet hits too than 2x2's or 1x2's.

If we could get enough of the members to just make two or four frames, we'd have enough to last for quite awhile! It's really not a big deal to make them. I do recommend drilling holes for the screws first, makes it a lot easier and the wood won't split either. I use a drill with a bit in it, and a second drill with a #2 Phillips bit in it.

I only have about 4 hours in those 10 frames, if that long. And my back still isn't healed up all the way from those two surgeries either. So you healthy young fellers oughta be able to whip 'em right out!
