I got one of those funny orange polymer targets a few weeks ago. This was an inexpensive Winchester brand spinner from Walmart. I don't remember how many hits this was rated for, but the larger targets are good for 5-10k hits from 17-50 caliber. Skeptical, yes. After a day at the range this light weight target took hits from 22, 556, and 9mm. The 556 had a pinhole entry and exited with a slightly larger ball point pen size hole. 22 and 9 had more inconsistent holes. Plenty enough drag to spin the target, only lacking the positive gong of a metal target. But the $15-$40 price point and the reduced weight will have me buying more.

edit: Don't shoot these targets with a pellet gun (like the package says)! Will bounce back almost directly at you, thankfully with much less energy.

How quickly do they stop spinning?

Good question. Maybe 3-8 sec.

Just looked at some of those yesterday and was curious how they'd hold up. Have to give one a try now thanks.

Like a lot of other self healing targets, do not put hollow points into these. ( I accidentally put some suprlus 7.62 HP into my orange bouncy ball and that tore it up.) On the much thinner spinner might be alright, but any of the thicker ground targets not good.

I've had good luck w/ a couple of ground bouncing Do-All Impact Seal targets and plan to add more. I was surprised by the durability and they are certainly more entertaining than shooting paper.

One word of warning w/ the ground bouncing/moving targets: Be aware of ricochets! Some places, it's not a big deal; some it's a huge deal.

Shooting suppressed angles at these then hitting rock-hard ground vs. penetrating into a big berm might remind you of good ol' Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Western! Anyhow, anywhere it's public/public range, I'd recommend moving them relatively close to the berm or backstop.

I am sorry but I had a good laugh at this. This reminds me of something that my 9 year old would try! I take it you speak from experience!?!?!
