The official gave no other details, but it appeared the boat could have been mistaken as a threat in Gulf waters not far from Iran's maritime boundaries.

"Mistaken" as a threat? Didn't we "mistake" a boat full of explosives as a non-threat a few years back in Yemen?

They were warned to swerve off multiple times and kept on coming which means they were a threat and appropriate action was taken to neutralize the threat. Pretty simple and straightforward to me.

Escalation of force incidents happen very fast- we had an incident in Afghanistan where one of our soldiers went from step 1 to step 5 (step 5 being the 5th of 5) in less than 10 seconds. Apparently a warning shot these days means "yes, keep coming!" or something to that effect. I won't judge weather or not you are right for believing in Allah, but I will facilitate the meeting. [Beer]
