Way to Gramps!

Reading the article below the video it just strikes me that people are really dumb these days. The .45 used was not loaded and "rusted." That's not even bringing a knife to a gun fight, that's bringing a non-working gun to a gunfight. Dumb.

Glad to see the old timer isn't going to be charged. Ever since Zimmerman I look at every single use of a gun case and think 'if this goes south for the shooter and they bring up charges we're screwed!'

That's just what a thug and criminal said...he had a gun, his intention was to possibly hurt people in my opinion, whether loaded or not. He was just trying make himself sound 'not so bad'

question.
in the video the guy starts shooting and they run away. he keeps shooting and he follows them almost out the door still shooting. is it still self defense if they are attempting to flee? at what point does it become offensive?

yes, i was wondering that too. But, if he didnt keep shooting perhaps, they would have turned around and attacked again. Fortunately the LE and DA, sided with the old man.

I get what you mean .. but I'd say it like this...

They were not fleeing till they were all the way out the door and then some.. they were tactically retreating to a better position to return fire.

.... prove they weren't [Coffee]

I was wondering about that too. I too guess they'd have to prove they weren't moving to a better position...

He will probably defend them as turning to crime due to the "struggle." terrible how they try to make law abiding citizens the bad guy these days.

It appeared to me that they were making a tactical retreat to alert their accomplices and regroup...

Glad everything turned out great! Hopefully these two idiots learned their lesson and won't pull a BS stunt like that again. They are both lucky to be alive.
I'm glad the old man isn't going to be charged

Shot the robbers as they fled ? Not a good thing for the shooter, we'll have to wait and see what happens to him..............Especially with the bad guys being of color, and the shooter was white, not even a white Hispanic........

Too bad we don't have the video of the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman confrontation. The video in this case will surely earn them some prison time. Of course our Ivy League educated leaders in Washington will do all they can to suppress our Second Amendment right of allowing the common citizen to defend himself from criminals & tyrants...

Not a lot of hits on target but man was that a fast/smooth draw

I think he had the pistol in some sort of soft holster in his jacket pocket or something, because it looks like he is holding it in his left hand, and draws with his right hand, all while he is rolling backwards in the chair (with sunglasses on!). I liked the draw while rolling move. Also, anyone notice his grip? He puts his left hand on on his right wrist, instead of on the gun. I wouldn't have noticed, except that I saw a guy doing this at this months IDPA match and thought it was a pretty strange grip.

Way to go sir! [Beer]
I woudn't hesitate to say his presence saved some innocent lives.
This could have turned out very bad if he wasn't there.

As a person who carries .380 daily the argument arrises about .380 not being enough.
In this case it was enough and maybe .45 would have been too much.

He did follow them out the door, they were wounded but lived, had that been bigger 9/40/45 (or more lethaly placed shots) and one of them died he would be potentially facing some severe manslaughter charges, where at least now the worst might be attempted manslaughter.

Also begs the question, of how a similiar scenario might play out if instead of a older retired gentleman, it was a middle aged white male with shaved head and a goatee (me). Would the race card try to be played heavy then? Maybe I need to shave and grow some hair.

On another note see the lady plugging her ears as the guy is walking past her shooting? Don't most people travel away from danger?
IDK maybe she was heading for the door.

Good job on diffusing the situation, hopefully it remains with no charges filed and will show bad guys there are more of us out there than them and we are not to get in trouble for helping keep society safe.

That's not heartless, that's wishing for the scum of the earth to get exactly what they deserve. Anyone who takes by force what isn't theirs deserves a cowards death.

Close call! Watch carefully and you'll see that that the BG's gun is pointed right at the GG as the GG fires his first shot.
