Some people care, some don't. I have yet to see any proof that steel cased ammo wears chambers or extractors any different than brass. Some people have claimed that the laquer coated steel cased ammo can gum up the chamber and cause FTE's in AR's but tons of people use it with no problems. I have never seen that happen. Probably highly unlikely to happen with a properly cleaned rifle. Personally, I save the less expensive steel cased ammo for the AK and use brass in the AR. I know that HunterCO and Gungrinder use steel cased ammo in their AR's so hopefully they will chime in with their experiences...

ETA: I have also heard that steel cased rounds don't seal as tight in the chamber and can contribute to a little extra required cleaning, maybe others here will speak to that as well...

i tried to get my G2 contender on paper with the green stuff once. the first round extracted fine, second was a little sticky, then the third was frozen in there and when i opened the gun the extracter snapped off. it was a brand new gun never fired before. i took it down to specitaly sports and lawrence got the shell out. it took him 15 min and a lot of hammering. i had to send the gun in to get the extractor replaced. lawrence said he has to do that to an AR a few times a month. i'm not sure if they grey stuff is better than the green but i'm not taking a chane with it. i save it for my AK. i think i can recall someone on this site getting the green stuff stuck in there AR a while back as well.

the polymer/grey casings run fine in the AK-106 and
the 10.5, 16" and 20" w/out a hitch. i purchased it to use in the AK-106
and keep the brass for the AR's. either way i have no issues with running it in any .223 firearm i own.
if the price was right i'd buy a lot more of it.

I have run thousands of rounds through my M16 with no problem. It is dirty it is not the best ammo but it shoots. [pirate]
