View Full Version : moving to the great state of Colorado
We've been planning to move to Colorado from New York for a while now. Hoping to land a job (4 prospects so far) soon and move by August. Looking forward to being an active and (hopefully) useful participant here. Our prayers go out to the victims and families of the Aurora shootings this morning.

^THIS!^ I lived for several years in the Syracuse area, and worked all over that state for New York Telephone. Beautiful state, made a lot of good friends, and some very cool attractions, but I don't miss their anti-citizen laws and attitudes.

Yeah we get snow here, sometimes quite a bit, but NOTHING like some parts of New York see. This was around the Fulton/Oswego area a few years ago, a friend of mine sent them to me. You aint gonna miss this, I bet....I sure as hell don't miss it.

I don't miss that at all. Reminds me of the blizzard of '77! I made a fortune shoveling snow that winter, though! Bought my first bass guitar and equipment with some of that $$$...

Welcome Greg. I moved out here from Smithtown, Long Island in 1971. All I can suggest....is if you get a job offer in Greeley....turn it down. It's a black-hole of social activity and higher thought. It also smells like cow crap. OH!!! Don't believe the lies about water.....there is no ocean here either.[ROFL1]

.....especially the leaves changing colors too. We have no fall.....just.a week of yellow Aspen trees.....and people taking pictures of them...for some reason.

Welcome to quite possibly the best state in the union! Looking forward to having you.
Welcome! What part of Colorado are you considering homesteading? Most of the state now has running water and if you stay on the Front Range they have indoor plumbing. [ROFL1]
Great weather here, nice people, the take out is only so, so.

Good to have ya here Greg! Welcome!!
Whadisit? New York having some sort of exodus??? :D
You were practicly a neighbor of mine,Just escaped from Carmel myself!!
The people here are outstanding and freindly(depending where you go ) and the state has a lot to offer if you just take the time out to look. It's not as fast paced as NY but thats ok,lets you enjoy life a bit.
Hope to hear from you some more. [Beer]
