Hey everyone. Emotions are high. I think it would be a very good idea to be careful how we respond. Look at the amount of guests viewing the site. When I just looked it said 1200 people. People we don't know. We don't want to give a worse impression on already dwindling 2A rights and our shooting this morning isn't going to help. Let's not give anyone more of a reason. Let's just keep cool.

Just a thought.

Yes, please everyone be mindful of what you say. Some national communities are hitting this site looking for information.

Let's just keeping doing what we have done since I joined. While I understand your statement. It could imply, to the many GUESTS we have right now, that we say questionable statements.

Just keep it the typical COAR, professional site we know and like.

Very well said. The left is already attacking. ABC NEWS is even already saying that James Holmes is a Tea Party member because one of the reporters found on a local Tea Party website that a Jim Holmes joined last year. Lot of speculation but proves a point that the left is chomping and salivating in hope of something to use against the right. Sad because much of the violence these days is coming from left minded people or individuals or groups protected by the left.

Personally I have never read to many posts on this site that are over the top or hate oriented. I read far worse things in the comment sections of new articles.

The media and everyone for that matter should focus on healing and not sensationalism for political gain as ABC has done with there speculation.

I'm not trying to start another shooting thread but want to point out that the news and spokespeople are already speculating that the person had to have automatic weapons, which I don't know if he did or didn't. This will be an attack on guns

This is so flippin pathetic that folks will blame everything but the person who
had the ability to carry out actions. [Bang][Bang][Bang]

Truly pathetic but that's how it is now. All we can do is educate the sheep who think "guns are bad"!

I look to the shooters family. His mother seemingly knew he was unstable based on her comments.
It has been reported he was on psychiatric drugs.
I wonder what his medical history was like?
It is a truly sad day when the media giants start pushing gun control and politics before the families have a chance to mourn.

Nut cases all over the place and he could have wrought as much chaos with a machete. Shame the reaction is to prevent more innocents from having the tools to protect themselves from the imbalanced/oppressive/evil.

The media today is abysmally biased. Gone are the days of unbiased neutral news.
If it’s not racial, firearms or anti-right it’s not newsworthy.
I’ve already read a quote of ‘full automatic gun shots’.

That is one of my life's missions. I even educate folks on drilling and especially fracing.
My boys Grandmother (a young grandmother in her early 50s), had some whoppers
of disinformation about fracing and even though Im in the oil industry and have a
decent understanding of fracing, she would not listen and chose to listen to the media for her "expert" opinion and "expertc" facts on the subject.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims' families.

It's a damn shame there wasn't one person in the crowd that could defend themselves against such a psycho. Thinking back to the New Life Church shooting a few years ago - one woman shooting back made all the difference.

Maybe people are worried about their personal safety after this tragedy, and are looking up how to defend themselves? Wishful thinking maybe? I'm with the others in the nothing to hide group.

I agree... but I will say anyone who doesn't want to be ignorant of the hobby and lifestyle we gun owners partake in, I will share ammo and teach them the way a very large majority use firearms, safely, and always as an extreme last resort in defense when justified. I have already taught several formerly anti-gun friends and now they are eager to get into the sport. Instead of condemning things, people should learn about them first before passing judgement.

Be safe out there, and always remember, freedom is only as good as those who will protect it.

I can only hope that people get more involved with their own safety and the safety of their loved ones.

Definately should come up with a get together of some sort that will benefit the victims and/or families of this garbage. I'm short on ideas, but maybe somebody smarter than me can think of something? Maybe just a candle light thingy?

The problem is getting a hold of the victim's families.

If we could actually get a hold of this information, then we could do something like bring them dinner every night in rotations for a few months.

I think something little like that could make a big difference.

Seems like a good time to get together and have a new shooter's meet up. Educate them on safety, raise some donations for the victim's families, teach the new shooters to shoot safely and dispel some of the misinformation.

I think that's a kickass idea. Maybe if we contact the hospitals? We could even keep the victims anonymous. If a hospital confirms that they have victims? We could maybe drop off the meals with the staff, and have them deliver it? I don't know if they would be up for that, but it is worth a shot.

no idea, I guess somebody could call the hospitals in the area and ask if they have victims, and how many, and if we could bring them dinner?
